Product Description Simple. Complex. Sublime. AMR is simply a better way to treat muscles, and provides the missing link to understanding back and body pain. It will alter every concept you ever had on massage and deep muscle therapy. The world of spine medicine is overflowing with experts, gurus and opinions. Why? Because everything works some times. But what do you do when nothing works? When surgery is thought to be the only remaining option? This is the basis of AMR - fixing when all else has failed. It's not magic, rather technique and hard work. Results are earned, and in the end we get the holy grail - what doctors have been looking for in examination and tests like discography, the patient exclaiming, "that's it!, that's my problem." This is a watershed moment in spine medicine. This guide is intended for a wide audience, you need no prior experience, or background in anatomy. Only a desire to learn and do the work. This book is empowering. Principles to guide you in the various situations you will encounter, you have all the tools necessary to fix the tough cases that currently confound medical science. If you are going to do any soft tissue work at all, this is how you want to do it - it will amaze you.

| Customer Reviews: Healing, personified October 25, 2009 R. Jacoby (Santa Monica, CA.) Someday, perhaps many years into the future, people will recognize Dr. Brian Bronk for the visionary example that he has presented in his latest work.
Written after years of working with men and women, for whom traditional modalities have failed to resolve their suffering, he has produced a work that this writer hopes will be a mantra for the many people who are continually searching for alternatives to anti-inflamatories, chiropractic manipulations and, saddest of all, questionable surgeries that all too often provide little in the way of lasting relief.
The beauty of this book is in the writing...
Purely magical, the way it felt as if I were sitting with Dr.Bronk, in his office, and having a simple conversation.Sans ego of any kind, he writes with a passion that, for this reader,is the mark of a true healer: wanting to address the needs and wants of those who ask for his assistance.
Nothing short of a salute will suffice, this great work, simply, a grand hallelujuah.
The product description says it all October 24, 2009 Mia N. McNamee (Long Beach, CA USA) From the Product review above: "If you are going to do any soft tissue work at all, this is how you want to do it - it will amaze you." And the short version of this review is, He's right - buy the book and you'll see for yourself.
The long version of the review doesn't say too much more, just uses more words saying it: I'm a therapist working in a doc's office and have seen some sadly chronic conditions. We get into this field to help folks, so it's frustrating to send them away just a little better, but knowing you just scratched the surface. Or worse yet, wondering if you did any good whatsoever! SO, when I heard about this technique, I was interested. When I read the book, I found myself continually thinking, "That's RIGHT, I've felt that!" or "That's RIGHT - It makes total sense" or some other version of "That's RIGHT!" And even though I'm just finding my way on my own at the moment, I have experienced some amazing results already, which speaks highly for the accessibility of the information in the book. It works. Really well.
The writing style is very engaging, like sitting and having a chat with the author who happens to be letting you in on his best stuff. The illustrations are pretty basic, but if you look at a person and then look at the illustration again, you get it. The overall impression I have is that this book is like the author's working notebook. Filled with amazingly effective information - yours for the taking. And again I quote the product description: "If you are going to do any soft tissue work at all, this is how you want to do it - it will amaze you." - it will.
A must read for anyone experiencing chronic back pain October 23, 2009 JCrawford (New York, USA) As an otherwise healthy, active male, who has never sustained a severe injury or been in a motor vehicle collision of any kind, I was perplexed when I developed a low back pain condition in my mid-30s. An initial MRI revealed two herniated discs at L4-L5, L5-S1 and resulted in a physician prescribing oral corticosteroids, rest and physical therapy, all of which helped immensely... the first time. It has been over four years since my initial diagnosis, and since that time, I have suffered repeated bouts of mild-to-severe lumbar pain. After each episode, I noticed the rehabilitation exercise and stretching routines were becoming less and less effective. Over-the-counter pain medication, heating pads, ice and virtually every device, including two different pieces of home inversion equipment, provided only temporary relief. Chiropractic manipulations, electrical stimulation and ultrasound proved virtually worthless and expensive. Several months ago, my back pain flared up so severely after a routine trip to the gym that I was barely able to walk. As a result, the chiropractor who I was seeing at the time ordered another MRI. The follow up scan elucidated a full blown disc extrusion at L5-S1, worsening of the herniation at L4-L5 and a new herniation at L3-L4. I was devastated psychologically being that I'm barely 39 and have worked so hard to stay in good shape. Yet another round of pain medication, oral steroids and rest helped me recover enough to walk, however, the prescribing orthopedist concluded that I was on a slippery slope heading towards chronic cortisone injections and possibly even discectomy surgery.
Desperate to get better, I buried myself in the scientific literature and spent hours reading about all the "guaranteed back pain remedies" sold on the web, many of which I had already tried, again with fleeting results. It was during this process that I stumbled across Dr. Bronk's website and his first book, "Disc Shmisc: A More Accurate Model Of Back Pain" and realized that he was saying something very different relative to his peers. The central tenet of Dr. Bronk's strategy is to address underlying foci of muscle spasm as well as areas of "crustified muscle" that develop as we age - this made a lot of intuitive sense to me as I reflected on my condition and what I was feeling. Almost always in the case of back pain, including mine, the discs are fingered as the direct cause. As a textbook back pain patient, I can attest first hand to the futility of targeting the discs.
Dr. Bronk's second book, "Advanced Muscle Reconditioning: The groundbreaking guide to solving back and body pain" is a more comprehensive publication that encompasses and builds on the material contained in his first book, replete with step-by-step instructions and diagrams that teach the reader how to apply his basic principles. In my case, after covering the relevant sections and working with my wife, who isn't a massage therapist, chronic pain through which I had suffered for years began to resolve after a few short treatments over the course of several days. I hope to be back to full activity in a couple more weeks. Dr. Bronk is clear that each case is unique, requiring varying durations and intensities of treatment. His isn't a cookie cutter approach, but rather a proven regimen for tackling the gamut of back [and body] pain. In my opinion, these are viable protocols for real, lasting relief that anyone can follow, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an effective way to address his or her back pain.
