Editorial Reviews:
Synopsis
From Library Journal
Both of these books are good, practical guides to a post-heart attack change of lifestyle, which includes a healthier diet, more exercise, and less stress. The Heart Factor Food Plan concentrates on diet. This reviewer, a still-overweight veteran of at least half-a-dozen diet regimens, believes that both a weight-loss diet or one tailored to those at risk of heart disease, no matter how good, are only as effective as the will power of the reader. This particular diet plan, however, includes good advice on how to stick to a diet and avoid common pitfalls such as fast food and fattening snacks. The Cooper Clinic Cardiac Rehabilitation Program includes, as the title indicates, a much broader program of healthy living, and also answers commonly asked questions about many aspects of cardiac disease and recovery either from a heart attack or from cardiac surgery. Of the many recent books on how to stay healthy and minimize the risk of heart disease, these are good ex amples. Recommended for consumer health collections.
