Product Description "I have lost 50 pounds over the last nine months by eating less, moving more, and changing the way I think. I am 62 and look better and feel better and have more energy than in the last 15 years."—Ron T.
" I read the wisdom put forth by Chris and Harry . . . [and] my next physical blew my doctor away. I am 74 and in better shape than when I was 50."—Jack S. "Not a week goes by that I do not utter a silent prayer of thanks that Younger Next Year came into my life. You guys are saving the world one body at a time."—T. G.
Announcing the paperback edition of Younger Next Year, the New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly bestseller, co-written by one of the country’s most prominent internists, Dr. Henry "Harry" Lodge, and his star patient, the 73-year-old Chris Crowley. These are the books that show us how to turn back our biological clocks—how to put off 70% of the normal problems of aging (weakness, sore joints, bad balance) and eliminate 50% of serious illness and injury. The key to the program is found in Harry's Rules: Exercise six days a week. Don't eat crap. Connect and commit to others. There are seven rules all together, based on the latest findings in cell physiology, evolutionary biology, anthropology, and experimental psychology. Dr. Lodge explains how and why they work—and Chris Crowley, who is living proof of their effectiveness (skiing better today, for example, than he did twenty years ago), gives the just-as-essential motivation. Both men and women can become functionally younger every year for the next five to ten years, then continue to live with newfound vitality and pleasure deep into our 80s and beyond.
Book Description Turn back your biological clock. A breakthrough book for men--as much fun to read as it is persuasive--Younger Next Year draws on the very latest science of aging to show how men 50 or older can become functionally younger every year for the next five to ten years, and continue to live like fifty-year-olds until well into their eighties. To enjoy life and be stronger, healthier, and more alert. To stave off 70% of the normal decay associated with aging (weakness, sore joints, apathy), and to eliminate over 50% of all illness and potential injuries. This is the real thing, a program that will work for anyone who decides to apply himself to "Harry's Rules."
Harry is Henry S. Lodge, M.D., a specialist in internal medicine and preventive healthcare. Chris Crowley is Harry's 70-year-old patient who's stronger today (and skiing better) than when he was 40. Together, in alternating chapters that are lively, sometimes outspoken, and always utterly convincing, they spell out Harry's Rules and the science behind them. The rules are deceptively simple: Exercise Six Days a Week. Eat What You Know You Should. Connect to Other People and Commit to Feeling Passionate About Something. The science, simplified and demystified, ranges from the molecular biology of growth and decay to how our bodies and minds evolved (and why they fare so poorly in our sedentary, all-feast no-famine culture). The result is nothing less than a paradigm shift in our view of aging.
Welcome to the next third of your life--train for it, and you'll have a ball.

This book is for you if you are over 50!!!! March 19, 2010 Bryan Grady (San Jose, CA United States) I love this book! I am a 59 yr old male, who woke up one day and found himself at 312 lbs, pre-diabetic, depressed, and definitely not looking forward to the future. After spending over $500 on other exercise books I finally found one that speaks to me. I don't care about washboard abs, I just want to be able to get up out of a chair easily. I don't care about big biceps or massive pecs, I want to be able to work easily and comfortably in the yard, go dancing with my wonderful wife. Most importantly, I want to be healthy. This book talks to just that goal. The authors do a wonderful job preaching about exercise. At my age, and whatever age you are now, exercise is mandatory. This book will teach you about exercise and what you need to do, how to do it, and why. I started an exercise program (yet, again) that just happened to follow what the authors recommend. I have lost 27 lbs since Jan 2010, dropped 6% body fat, and 6 inches off my waist. (I need a new belt!, Yeah!!). I am 42 lbs lighter than I was a year ago. I fully expect to beat the pre-diabetes diagnosis this year. Again, I love this book. Why did it take so long for me to find it. Read this. It will change your life!!
Younger Next Year March 15, 2010 James A. Meaney If you are serious about staying fit and well with an eye towards healthy longevity, this book is a must read.
Great Information in a Casual, Readable Style March 12, 2010 Deborah Howard (Little Rock, AR) This book is a hoot! Not only does it provide great information about living a healthier life, but the author's sense of humor is evident. I found myself chuckling at his tongue-in-cheek comments. But on a more serious note, I've always asserted that education is a powerful tool to motivate change. As a nurse, I appreciate knowing the physiology behind the advice. And he takes complicated physiology and makes it user-friendly. You need a copy of it on your shelf -- AFTER you've learned what it has to teach.
Inspired to be ... Younger Next Year March 6, 2010 denbren (Foxboro, MA USA) This book, along with some prodding from my doctor and results that show both to be correct, has inspired me to take the actions described in the book. If I do half of what they suggest my life will change drastically. It's been a long time since I've been on the road or the water with anything that didn't have a motor. So biking and paddling will be a huge change. I've already lost 5 pounds just implementing one rule. I've also dusted off and fired up the treadmill after years of neglect. I fully intend to live my next 30 years in great shape and I've told my doctor I have no intention of living out of a pillbox for the next thirty. Before reading this book, I was resigned to facing the fact that the next 30 years would be spent in declining health with prescription after prescription being added to the daily regimen. This book dispels those myths but don't expect easy fixes. This book is about truly changing your life and your habits. My only regret was buying the book on CDs. I'm already wanting to go back to the book for reference.
Great read February 14, 2010 D. C. Caswell (Tennessee) Great information. Makes a ton of sense. Wordy at times. Something I plan on trying to follow the rest of my life.
