Product Description Parents will do almost anything to get their kids to eat healthier, but unfortunately, they've found that begging, pleading, threatening, and bribing don't work. With their patience wearing thin, parents will "give in" for the sake of family peace, and reach for "kiddie" favorites--often nutritionally inferior choices such as fried fish sticks, mac n' cheese, Pop-sicles, and cookies. Missy Chase Lapine, former publisher of Eating Well magazine, faced the same challenges with her two young daughters, and she sought a solution. Now in The Sneaky Chef, Lapine presents over 75 recipes that ingeniously disguise the most important superfoods inside kids' favorite meals. With the addition of a few simple make-ahead purees or clever replacements, (some may surprise you!) parents can pack more fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants in their kids' foods. Examples of "Sneaky" recipes include: -No Harm Chicken Parm -Power Pizza -Incognito Burritos -Guerilla Grilled Cheese -Brainy Brownies -Health-by-Chocolate Cookies -Quick fixes for Jell-O(R) It's a book chock-full of strategies that will help any parent incorporate better health for the whole family.

Fabulous October 30, 2009 Susan R. Haskin (Chehalis, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really am glad that I bought all three books. The trio would make a great gift for a young family trying to get healthy.
Very useful book for parents and good tips October 26, 2009 Alfa Villa (Guadalajara, Mexico) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Though I bought this book for my wife, I've read quite a bit of it, and have seen some of the recipes, have yet to try some, but my wife's promised to make some soon. It has some good tips, calms your qualms regarding questions you may have like, is it good to trick your kids, will they ever eat healthy foods if you hide them in non-healthy looking packaging, and so on.
If you are fighting a daily battle with your kids, trying to get them to eat something healthy in between, this book may give you some well deserved rest and ease your worries.
Fabulous! October 14, 2009 A. Lents 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is wonderful! The author does a great job of explaining the how and why of everything, which makes it very easy to sneak veggies into my own favorite recipes. The make ahead recipes are simple and easy. It does not take much time to make the purees and with enough to freeze for later use. I would recommend this book too anyone who wants to eat more healthfully!
sorry I purchased... September 11, 2009 M. Neumann (Cincinnati, OH, USA) 4 out of 21 found this review helpful
I bought this book at a yard sale only to later learn about the author's lawsuits against Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld. I was ashamed to have supported this author even through the secondhand route. I used this book for tinder at my last summer BBQ. This book ended up being the best $0.50 bargin from this year's garage sales (a can of lighter fluid runs over $3). I highly recommend this book as a means to get charcoal started.
Next time, sneak some flavor in... August 17, 2009 Mimi B. (Michigan) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Spent a small fortune on healthy ingredients. Diligently followed four recipes including the time-consuming prep of purees. Unlike three of the recipes, the pizza actually tasted pretty good, but the added nutritional value of its "sneaky" ingredients was negligible. Maybe a teaspoon of over-boiled, vitamin-depleted veggies made it into each serving.
As for the other recipes, no family member wanted to eat the Grilled Cheese muffins, brownies or icing. (About $20 of organic ingredients down the drain.) You might trick a toddler as a sneaky chef of these recipes, but older kids and adults already know that food can taste good.
Lastly, this book needs a good proofreader to fix index and recipe errors. Best wishes to the writer for her effort and good intentions, but maybe next time, she should seek input from a talented chef, a nutritionist, and many discriminating taste-testers.
