Product Description For years nutritionists and health practitioners have urged North Americans to eat more fruits and vegetables. Why? Because these foods are low in fat, and are important sources of essential vitamins, minerals and fiber. Yet many of us -- even the most health conscious -- still don't consume the recommended 5 to 10 servings a day. So what's the solution? For some people, the answer lies in vitamin and herbal supplements, both of which have enjoyed explosive sales growth over the past decade. But recent research suggests that whole, natural foods are still the best source of nutrients. And there's no easier or more effective way to add fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet than by juicing them. Now, with The Juicing Bible, there's a new and comprehensive source of information for anyone who wants to explore the health benefits of juicing. Here you'll find a fully illustrated reference documenting the nutritive values and healing properties of over 100 fruits, vegetables and herbs. There's also a special section that addresses 60 common health conditions -- with prescriptive advice for using specific juices, as well as beneficial dietary and lifestyle changes. And, of course, there are the juicing recipes themselves -- over 350 of them, including flavourful juices (sample a crimson cleanser or beta blast), smoothies (try the pump it up or cool down), tonics, bitters, coffee substitutes and healing teas. With helpful sidebars, health tips and preparation techniques throughout, The Juicing Bible is jam-packed with information. It's a BIG book and it's an essential guide for anyone who wants to explore all the nutritional benefits that natural foods can provide. Pat Crocker is a culinary herbalist and professional home economist with more than 25 years experience. Past president of an herbalist association, she brings her passion about herbs to many newspaper and magazine articles as well as lecture events. 400 pages, softcover Dimension

very informative October 20, 2009 Rey D. Maldonado (Ft.Lauderdale Florida) the author has a wealth of nutritional information included and the approach to categorizing by ,fruit, vegetable or health concern is excellant. great addition to any juicers library.
very thorough September 14, 2009 M. Asbell (Jacksonville, FL) being new to the "juicing" world, i found this book very thorough in its breakdown of the different fruits and vegetables...from how & when to buy, how to store & the nutritional value...countless fruits, veggies and fruit & veggie combos...it'll take a long time to bore of these recipes...
Great resource! September 14, 2009 J. A. Flamer (Albuquerque) The Juice Bible is very complete, very helpful. It's a great juice resource for recipes and health advice.
For those who want to LEARN. July 8, 2009 Dave Prozac (California) First let me just say that this book is not for those who just want "yummy juice" recipes, there are plenty out there [...]. This book IS for those who want to learn about vegetables and fruits as they pertain to juicing, how to prepare them, how they affect your body, what nutrients are in them, and also how to use the leftovers (pulp) to enhance your diet. There are enough recipes to keep you going for quite some time so even if you can't immediately read about all the vegetables and fruits you can still start juicing immediately. If you are someone who wants to make juicing an everyday thing because you have heard about the positive results so many have had then this is a great place to start.
A must have for new juicers! July 5, 2009 J. Williard (Atlanta, GA) I absolutely love this book! Being new to juicing, it is a great resource. The section on body systems gives the reader information about how our body functions & the diseases that occur when the system is not functioning properly. In the health condition section, it gives the reader what substances will keep the system intact & what to avoid. Information on fruits, vegetables, & herbs provides the reader with ideas on when to use & when to avoid, & how to store. The recipes are divided into fruits & vegetable combinations but also includes recipes for certain ailments.
