Product Description
Scheduled for release in April 2004, The Maker's Diet offers a truly holistic approach to health. Jordan Rubin will take you through a 40-day health experience, incorporating the four essential pillars--physical, spiritual, mental and emotional health: The physical pillar involves diet and nutrition, exercise, hygiene and body therapies. Spiritual health requires a connection with the Creator and His supreme purpose for our lives that makes every day worth living. Mental well-being rests on the ability to control your thought life and focus on the tasks at hand. Our emotional health and stability are interrelated with each of the other three pillars. Including day-by-day meal recommendations, the health principles outlined in The Maker's Diet can provide you with the framework and practices to achieve extraordinary health in all areas of your life. Do You Have Faith in Your Diet? Discover the 40-day health experience that will change your life forever. The Maker's Diet. The Maker's Diet by Dr. Jordan S. Rubin - Book

Amazon.com Review
Miracle cure stories abound when it comes to natural healing. A super nutrient reverses cancer after chemotherapy has failed. A Chinese herb lowers high blood pressure in a patient with heart disease after being dismissed as quackery by doctors. Jordan S. Rubin’s account of returning from the medical abyss, however, includes an original twist. After several years of battling Crohn’s Disease, which included a small fortune spent on both conventional and alternative treatments, as well as trips abroad in search of help, Rubin weighed only 111 pounds and, at just age 21, thought his life was over. At the urging of his father, a naturopath, he contacted an obscure nutritionist in California promoting a diet based on the teachings of the Bible. Yes, we’re talking what Jesus ate: kefir, lamb, sprouted breads, eggs and meat from free-range chickens, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Rubin also started to pray and added a new powder supplement containing homeostatic soil organisms (HSOs) to his diet. Four months later he weighed 170 lbs and was on the road back to his former athletic and healthy self. Inspired by his experience, and now with advanced degrees in nutrition and naturopathic medicine, Rubin has crafted The Maker’s Diet. While the faithful will surely find the book of interest, Rubin’s command of the scientific issues underpinning his recommendations may also appeal to those more accustomed to studying food labels in search of what to eat than ancient religious texts. --Patrick Jennings

5 out of 5 stars Effective Diet Plan for overall health and well being   November 11, 2009
Kari M White (Minneapolis, MN)
I started this diet in August 2009 and I think it is fantastic. In the first two weeks my post-nasal drip was eliminated, I had more energy in the morning, and my heartburn completely stopped. At the end of the 6 weeks on the diet, I had my cholesterol checked and it had dropped 35 points. I lost about 12 pounds over the 40 days, which was an added bonus. I was surprised at how good food started to taste after removing all the prepackaged junk and buying REAL food.

I admit that it has been difficult to adjust to preparing my own food and the time involved, and it took me some time to find a good healthfood store where I could purchase the food. In previous diet changing attempts I had difficulty getting enough fiber and protien and eating less fat and carbohydrates. I found with the Maker's Diet that getting optimum levels balanced throughout the day was much easier. I did not choose to go through the cleansing or purchase the supplements he suggested, but just did what I could with the food I could buy from home. I feel amazing, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a way to become a healthier person overall.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Way of Living !   October 6, 2009
Dorothy L. Haislett (Wilmington, DE USA)
I have been using this book for almost 4 years. I do not use every single thing in it, especially the fancy oils, but the basic diet is healthy for me and makes me FEEL healthy! I occasionally purchase extra copies to give away, I'm so sold on it. In the past 3-4 years, I've lost more than 165 lbs. Having work I love is certainly a part of it, and the author recommends sleep (much more than I was getting) in order to give your body time to restore itself nightly, and the fourth piece is moderate exercise - walking, swimming, gardening...anything to raise your heart rate for 1/2 hour or more. So it's diet, exercise, sleep, and employment for me.

I recommend this 'program' to everyone. My advice is to start small...give up diet products, buy organic. Even that's a good start. Do this for a couple of weeks, then change something else...like giving up shellfish. One step at a time works wonders, and I didn't feel deprived. Be determined! Do this for YOU ! Organic foods are getting slightly (and I do mean 'slightly') easier to find here on the east coast. It's taken far too long, but finally, we now have small sections in some grocery stores that offer organic products/produce.

Best wishes for a truly great experience !

5 out of 5 stars Loved it   September 22, 2009
Ann Bricker (San Jose, CA)
I engulfed this book, thinking it would just be a fun exploration of Bible foods, but ended up changing up our family's way of eating and thinking about food. I now am obsessed with sprouting and raw milk and honey. I want my family to be healthy and avoid problems caused by decreased immunity, and this book was such a gift from God, sending me in a logical exciting direction for the way I feed my family. I also bought the referenced cookbook, Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and am getting a lot out of that as well.

I just lost 75 pounds, without spending a fortune on merchandise. I still have a little bit more to go and I'm sure I will reach my goal.
