The Answers We've Been Looking For October 18, 2009 Kerry M. Stella (New York, NY) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm enjoying Muscle Medicine but my mother who has a history of musculoskeletal problems really
found it useful. Here's what she had to say: "This book is a unique
contribution to the field of physical medicine and therapy. It provides
meticulous description of muscle dynamics and joint physiology in a way that
is easy for the layperson to understand. As a woman who is looking back at
50, I¹ve had both chronic and traumatic lower-back and cervical spine
problems. Muscle Medicine both validated my experience and gave me a good
sense of the options that are available to me. You couldn¹t ask for more."
Essential Book for Weekend Warriors October 16, 2009 William Doyle 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a sporadic runner and basketball player and my muscles are always getting sore and sprained. This is the first book that explains to me why this happens and how to stop it. I love how crisply and clearly this really technical information is presented. Great illustrations and medical perspectives, in layman's language. Good nutrition tips, too. Really well done, and I think anyone who is into physical activity should grab a copy of this excellent book.
Muscle Medicine is written mainly in layman's language and easy to understand. October 11, 2009 Colleen M. Rosen (Tucson, AZ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this book mainly because I wanted to learn more about "frozen shoulder" (my condition) and how to prevent other injuries in the future. I was pleased that the book was written mainly in layman's language, making it easy to understand. However, I was disappointed that there wasn't more on my specific condition (only 2 pages). There is quite a lot of general information and exercises on how to prevent some conditions, and there are specific exercises to do for shoulder health, etc. I guess I was hoping for even more. Overall, it's a very good book and I haven't seen anything quite like it for the general public.
Great resource for athletes, patients September 14, 2009 Kyler Brown (Austin, TX) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
As a Sports Injury Doctor, its nice to finally have a user-friendly book that does not lecture to patients, but serves as a tool they can use at home. Many symptoms can come from a muscular origin- even if you have significant structural issues. Muscle Medicine helps the reader understand this phenomenon, and also provides ideas to help alleviate those symptoms, conservatively.
