I loved this book! November 13, 2009 K. Johnson (Logan, Utah) I grew up in a preparedness atmosphere, have tried my whole life to prepare for unforeseen circumstances, and have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America (motto: Be Prepared!)for 30 years. I have been taught things that don't work, things that are too complicated, and things that do not make a return on the effort. Many times, I have witnessed things go bad, and then the natural reactions dictated by human nature. My intention with this review is to highlight the strengths of the book. I own many food storage, survival, home skill, and disaster preparedness books. This one by far is my favorite. I found it to be very readable, entertaining, and informative. Mr. Lundin seems to be a lot further than I down the road of preparing in a simple manner. His wealth of experience certainly reinforces the lessons of my limited experience.
His books have helped me think through situations, how I would prepare for them,
and mitigate the problems. His list of great, multi-use stuff is worth the price of the book alone. I found that I had already purchased many of these things, so I gathered them in one place, and added what I was lacking. In short, it not only has the information, but it motivated me to act, to prepare. I purchased an extra copy to give away. I read the entire book, cover to cover, and enjoyed it. When was the last time that was possible with this kind of book?
Don't buy it November 9, 2009 Esoteric Aquarian (Los Angeles) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's a platform for the author to pontificate and the artist to publish cutesy illustrations. A hodgepodge collection of information poorly constructed. You have to read and read and read and read to get any practical use out of this wordy book. There are many other better books out there. I returned this book even though I had to pay for the shipping to send it back.
All Hell's about to Break loose. November 2, 2009 Average Joe This is a good book, especially is you are going to have to survive away from home. The book blends survival in your house and survival if you have to leave your house (Get out of Dodge).
Interesting November 2, 2009 Fred M. Huff (Bow, WA United States) I found this book quite interesting. It's not entirely about how-to's but more about survival mindset. It seems a lot of what Cody does is put people into unfamiliar and difficult circumstances that look at the beginning not to be that big a deal. There is a bit of letting them flounder to get the idea just how deep into it they are followed with a hand up. It appears what he wants them to learn primarily is a mindset of survival awareness. I enjoyed the book. It's not just another me too clone.
Save Your Money October 28, 2009 Scott A. Gordon (Sacramento, CA) I was very disappointed with the content of this book. In reading the reviews and the write-up, I thought this would contain more practical information, but I found much of the information to be quasi-spiritual, wishful deep-thinking, and full of quotes and illustrations that were hard to apply to the context of the material.
