Product Description Along with the many benefits of leisure-class living comes obesity and its attendant ailments. In The Warrior Diet, Ori Hofmekler looks not forward but backward for a solution–to the primal habits of early cultures such as nomads and hunter-gatherers, the Greeks, and the Romans. Based on survival science, this book proposes not ordinary dietary changes but rather a radical yet surprisingly simple lifestyle overhaul.
Drawing on both scientific studies and historical data, Hofmekler argues that robust health and a lean, strong body can best be achieved by mimicking the classical warrior mode of cycling—working and eating sparingly (undereating) during the day and filling up at night. Specific elements from the Warrior Diet Nutritional Program (finding ideal fuel foods and food combinations to reduce body fat) to the Controlled Fatigue Training Program (promoting strength, speed, and resilience to fatigue through special drills), literally reshape body and mind. Individual chapters cover warrior meals and recipes; sex drive, potency, and animal magnetism; as well as personalizing the diet for women. Featuring forewords by Fit for Life author Harvey Diamond and Fat That Kills author Dr. Udo Erasmus, The Warrior Diet shows readers weary of fad diets how to attain enduring vigor, explosive strength, a better appearance, and increased vitality and health.

with limitations October 2, 2009 B. Sowul (Phoenix) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been on this diet, slightly modified for two weeks now. I did read the book in its entirety, and even made notes here and there for key points. I have lost 5 pounds, and at one point had more energy. The problem is, this diet cannot possibly work for someone with a high stress, low physical activity career. I can totally see me benefiting three fold if I worked construction or stayed at my old job (I cant realistically get to the gym everyday) This book also seems like a gateway to more of Ori's products. A little like the "naked warrior" book by Pavel. Good read, fun ideas, and helpful like the south beach diet.
Best Book I've ever Read about Dieting September 28, 2009 David Morrison 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Warrior Diet goes way beyond the rationale of thinking when it comes to weightloss. To be honest, this program will challenge you in ways you never even thought of. There's no hype or fluff, just straight to the point knowledge you can use right away. If your serious about losing weight @ a rapid rate,( Now by all means don't let that last sentence scare you.) It is possible to drop 10 -15 lbs per week on this program and keep it off, so I strongly advise you to get this book, one month on the program, and if done right a lot of family and frieds wont even reconise you!!
You will lose weight September 7, 2009 A Guy in Indianapolis (Indianapolis, IN USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Restrict your caloric intake and you'll lose weight, at least until your metabolism adjusts. Because this diet is probably more restrictive than most others that are popular with men, such as All Pro, Abs, and Belly Off, it can help you lose that last ten to fifteen pounds, if you've stopped losing weight with the diet you're currently following and want to see if you can get your body fat into the high single digits. To stick with it takes a level of commitment and resolve that most people don't really have, but your motivation to continue may increase as you see progress and learn to tolerate the changes that accompany selective fasting. I recommend it for eight to twelve weeks as an interesting change of pace, but I don't recommend it as a permanent lifestyle change.
dont waste your money July 30, 2009 meitsme (ks, usa) 2 out of 10 found this review helpful
This idea is ridiculous. Why starve & feel ill at work only to overeat your daily calories at night and gain? Rem- calories in/ calories out, no matter what time of the day you eat.
I'm sorry I bought it!
Where is the science ? July 7, 2009 John 5 out of 19 found this review helpful
I just wonder where the science is in all this. For instance, the claim that avocado is a vegetable that is "anti-estrogen" seems kind of "out there", especially if not backed up by any real science. Does the author have a PhD in a science that is directly related to nutrition or how the body processes food ? Or is he writing somewhat "outside" his field ? (I don't know).
I think it funny that the author says we should emulate the ancient Greeks and Romans, who ate only one meal (late) a day. And yet, we modern Americans live into our 70s, and the Greeks and Romans died in their 30s. I also would not want to emulate Sparta (the Spartans practiced infanticide on infants deemed too weak), etc.
The notion that breads and carbs are bad is made by many diets. And yet, it has been the staple food for instance, in Italy and France for about 1,000 years. And the Italians are not fat. What makes Americans fat is not estrogen (in my view), but the fact that we eat between meals, we eat far too much sugar, and we go back for seconds. This is all written about in the "No S Diet", by the way, which I am now doing. And that diet seems far more in line with my life than fasting most of the time, and then gorging like a Spartan at night.
