an awesome resource July 29, 2008 a real masterpice - tons of info; a fantastic resource. The world's been waiting for this one!
Definitive rubbish! May 11, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book is horrid. It pretends to give a "balanced" view of traditional allopathic medicine's approach to cancer, versus alt-medicine. There are actually more than half the pages devoted to the latter. But the orientation of the authors is pathetic. They basically view alt approaches as some do-nothing supplement to traditional chop/burn/poison treatments. As many people are aware, if you have been systematically poisoned by chemo or radiation, alt-medicine has very little to help you. Nowhere in the book do the authors present an alt-medicine approach that is usable, detailed (dosages, etc.) and endorsed as the person's sole strategy.
For decent advice, please read: The Natural Way to Heal: 65 Ways to Create Superior Health, by Walter Last. If you are too poor to buy this (inexpensive) book, Last has a web site where he gives much of the same information (but it is easier to have it all collected into a book, in my view).
Regarding Naturopathy's Science-Ejected Principles, 2007: May 11, 2008 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book, from the current {2008} AANP President, no less, is an excellent example of AANP-CNME-AANMC-CAND naturopathy's pseudoscience:
the pervasive misrepresentation and coding of 'sectarian, science-ejected belief' / figmentation as scientific fact {e.g. vitalism, supernatural spiritism, teleology, autoentheism & kind}.
Lovin' p.103 in the book, which states:
"naturopathic physicians use scientifically based principles to guide their diagnosis and treatment."
The Federation of Naturopathic Physician Licensing Authorities states that licensure is 'bound up with' / 'a commitment towards' the principles of "life force" / "vital force," the "purposeful," and the "spiritual."
Ha: since when is an imaginary figmentation like naturopathy's essential 'purposeful life spirit' principle / premise aka Vis Medicatrix Naturae "scientific"?
Yeah, NDs / NMDs have science expertise.
Vitalism & teleology have been ejected from science for several decades, and supernaturalism / theism for a few hundred years.
An imaginary figment labeled a scientific fact, great...just how many cancer patient's are they annually victimizing with this flapdoodle?!?!?!?
"Danger, Will Robinson, unethical sectarian pseudoscience."

Not the same book March 29, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is definitely not an update of the old book. It is totally different. Don't waste your money. They have eliminated all alternative treatment information and steer you toward more traditional methods of cut, burn and poison.
Fighting Back September 18, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Diagnosis: Cancer. Here is your first step in fighting back if you or a loved one has been given this diagnosis. To have all this information at your fingertips is empowering. This book is so well written, very understandable for a layperson; you will want to keep it close-by for answers to questions that pop up all the time. Each page is backed with research, which is encouraging and impressive. Hopefully this integrative approach to treating cancer will become the rule. It just makes sense.
