Excellent source for gay men! April 12, 2008 A. Ross (Chicago, IL.) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is an excellent addition to those men just coming out, or have been out for many years who may have forgotten the basics of gay mens health. I made my partner read this book to encourage him to find a doctor that he can be 100% honest with. I have had gay doctors in the past, and gay friendly doctors, so I know how important it is to have someone understand my lifestyle.
Not Exactly Dr. Oz... April 1, 2008 Steven Eck (CHICAGO, IL United States) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a good book if you area a very sexually adventurous gay male. I was expecting more of a general men's health book, regarding healthy aging, etc. Be preapred for some frank sexual discussion.
Gay Man's Health and Wellness March 5, 2008 James Bell (Saratoga NY) The book is informative and simply written. It seems to be intended for "beginners" as much of the information contained becomes common knowledge by the time you've reached the age of 50. I do not intend to diminish the book, rather I want to point out it would benefit a younger, "just coming out" gay man much more. Many thanks to the author for making sensitive information available to the gay community in a simple and comfortable way.
First hand experience.. March 5, 2008 R. Suggs (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have the good fortune to be under the care of Dr. Frank Spinelli. His "resource guide" and practical "how to" would have been extremely helpful for myself and my peers as we searched for our identities in NYC's gay 90's. So many of us rushed to lower Manhattan to escape our oppressive upbringings and built a "society" of our own which was often (from my perspective) as oppressive as those we left behind. We didn't know how to "be" together. Older (not too much), wiser, and much happier these days, I hope Frank's honest, well crafted advice and guidance reaches gay men of all ages who travel the road toward a truly healthy, happy existence. Nice work. The Advocate Guide to Gay Men's Health and Wellness (Advocate Guide)
