Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin’s Fae-infested shores in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery—and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…

4 out of 5 stars I am aquiver with anticipitation... this fever is contagious!   December 3, 2008

What's a girl to do when you have three beautiful men vying for your attention, promising you the world and much, much more? That depends on whether you can trust them and this is a position that I don't envy our heroine. As flattering as it is to have so many men after you, it isn't all that fabulous when it means your life. For our Southern Belle McKayla Lane, life hasn't been a gratifying game of courtship ever since she arrived in Dublin. After finding out that she is one of the most powerful sidhe-seers born, her life is forever altered. Months of living in Fae-infested Dublin has turned this fun-loving beauty into a fierce warrior to be reckoned with, fighting the evil that threatens the world while hunting down her sister's murderer.

Now the wall that separates human and Faery is gravely threatened and as All Hallow's Eve quickly approaches, MacKayla knows that the sands of time is running out and a showdown between good and evil is looming unless the powers that be are able to hold the wall. Is she ready to face the end? Who shall she ally with - V'lane the sexually lethal Seelie Prince, her fellow sidhe-seers or her mysterious mentor Jericho Barrons who refuses to divulge his real interest in the Sinsar-Dubh, the book that contains the ultimate power? Whatever her decision is, one thing remains certain - readers would be deliciously frustrated waiting for the conclusion to MacKayla's saga.

This latest instalment in Karen Marie Moning's Fever series left me hungry for more of our heroine and these supernatural creatures. While some questions from the first two books were answered, more questions were raised that I am now sitting here waiting for the next book to come out. The author works her magic providing a tasty spin to the world of fae, vampires and seers. As Dublin plunges into chaos, I found myself getting sucked deeper into MacKayla's world waiting for the final battle while also salivating for answers. Oh, the frustration that Ms. Moning puts her readers through! I was lucky to have read all three books in one go, but I have now joined a horde of other followers left deliciously tormented due to the tantalizing cliffhanger. Indeed, I am hungry for more but it appears that I am in for a long wait before this hunger is appeased.

First and foremost this book is NOT a stand alone book. I suppose a person could enjoy this book without having read the previous two, but it would be sort of like watching the last movie in the Lord of the Ring's Trilogy: you would find it interesting, exciting, captivating, however, you really wouldn't know what the hell was going on. So my advice would be to start with Darkfever (book 1).
Now for those of you who have read the first two in the Fever series, but (somehow?) have refrained from reading Faefever thus far I can only urge you to do yourself a favor and read this book. If you are dragging your feet because of the lag between books I understand and empathize, but clearly you are struggling with yourself as you can't seem to stop reading all the reviews. Why not decide for yourself?
We all have the ability to decide for ourselves what makes a great book. Now I fell in love with KMM and her work with the Highlander Series (HS). I will admit to feeling cheated after reading Darkfever because I was expecting another book just like the HS. Though a series there is a complete story within each book. The Fever Series is one story told over five books. I said I felt cheated, but not in the sense of "Wow I cannot believe I just spent $20 on this piece of crap" more like "Omg where is the rest of this book?!" The truth is all three books thus far in the series have been amazing and I seriously doubt the next two will be less in anyway. KMM is a genious and writes beautifully.
I really feel like I know Mac and I can appreciate (though it is frustrating...what happens next already?!) the development of her story. I mean this isn't the typical read. We are really getting the meat of the story and not in an overly, extremely boring detailed manner. Every new book, chapter, hell, even paragraph seems to draw us in deeper and wet our appetiate for more. I have read, re-read, then read a few more times each and every one of KMM's books and have decided that even though she has taken a different approach with the FS they are still just as powerful as her HS, perhaps even more so.
I am pretty upset about some of the reviews KMM has gotten on this book simply due to the ending. I was honestly shocked at the reaction some people had. Please don't not buy this book because of reviews about the "terrible ending" it really isn't as horrible as some are making it out to be. I mean if it was ever to happen to me I would prefer it happen just like this. This is a huge turning point in the series and though it sucks for us (the reader) because it is the world's best cliffhanger, you just know that Mac is going to rise above this and it is only going to make her that much stronger. You just can't miss this book. You shouldn't miss any of them.
I get on frequently to see when the next book is going to be released because I honestly think I might resort to writing my own ending to the series if I have to wait another entire year for the next installment. ;)
- If you haven't read any of the FS yet and want to start (DO!) I suggest buying/borrowing all the one's available at once and setting aside an entire weekend to devote to them. Because I can assure you as soon as you finish Darkfever you will be reaching for Bloodfever and then Faefever. But you might as well go ahead and buy them because these are definite keepers!-
XOXO

If your a Karen Marie Moning fan you might be disappointed by her latest series. Unlike her other series the Fever series books can not stand alone. The story is a continuing saga that has up until this book left me somewhat curious as to where the story will take me. Unfortuneatley this book has such a disgusting ending I'm pretty sure I will not purchase the final 2 books in the series. Unless your not interested in a warm fuzzy feeling when you finish a book I wouldn't recommend this series.

I am so very glad that I didn't pay for this but got it from the library. Most of it is nothing but a rehash of the first two books. There is no direction or character development. Speaking of which, Mac is getting more unlikeable by the minute. She is turning into one of those stereotypical "help me, help me" wimpy females with no sense. I won't even bother getting the next one. There are authors who can really write. What an absolute waste.
