Amazon.com Robot Chicken's finest half hour is more savvy than Spaceballs, more inside than Family Guy: Blue Harvest, and funnier, even, than The Star Wars Holiday Special. This Very Special Episode of Comedy Central's stop-motion animated series parodies and goofs on all things Star Wars, from a disgruntled Empire janitor to an ad for Admiral Ackbar Cereal ("Your tongues can't repel flavor of that magnitude"). Twenty three minutes goes by like the jump to hyperspace with such priceless bits as the collect phone call to Emperor Palpatine from Darth Vadar to inform him of the Death Star's destruction, awkward morning-after pillow talk between Luke and Leia ("That was so wrong"), and George Bush's newfound Jedi powers. Co-creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and company immerse viewers in the Robot Chicken universe with generous bonus features, including storyboarded deleted scenes (with self-deprecating commentary), behind the scenes footage of animation meetings, and alternate audio takes. Good sport George Lucas, who gave his blessing to this episode, boldly goes where William Shatner went before by voicing himself in a Star Wars convention sketch that concludes with a Lucas-worshiping geek telling his son that meeting his idol was the best day of his life. What about his son's birth? "Not even close," dad replies. But you don't have to have that kind of devotion to Star Wars to be amused by this weather forecast for Cloud City: "Cloudy, followed by clouds." --Donald Liebenson.

only for a robot chicken fan... August 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was somewhat disappointed in the RC-version, especially after having seen the hilarious 'Family Guy' version much earlier. I think maybe I had my hopes too high. Still a pretty decent show for the die-hard Robot Chicken fan...but I wish someone would have burned me a copy so I wouldn't have spent any money on it.
Multiple Skits, A Collectible August 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was my first introduction to the ROBOT CHICKEN animated series, and I am glad to add it to my collection. I will also buy seasons 1-3. These are a few classic scenes, but they are accurate in their parody. The "Collect Call from Darth Vader" scene is my favorite.
Stay away from this August 1, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you have no sense of humor, stay away from this. It can only make your day worse.
On the other hand, if you have a sense of humor, buy this. It's close to the funniest thing I have ever seen. It helps if you like twisted humor. Robot Chicken probably offends some people.
This is laugh out funny stuff.
If you watch the extras, which are mostly worth watching, you will realize how much time and effort they put into this. Of course the air this show somewhat frequently, but the extras, and the higher quality video probably make this worth it for $10 (which is what I paid.)

May The Chicken Be With You July 29, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Does this really need a review? If you're on this page, you probably already bought it. For $10 the DVD is definately worth it! What it lacks in actual show time it makes up for with the extras. There are some great behind the scenes features that show just how much work they put into making the show and how incredibly crazy you'd have to be to do stop motion animation. There's a couple of storyboarded deleted scenes and let's just say, for the most part, there's a reason they were deleted. Another great thing is the Chicken Nuggets where you can watch the show and at some parts click on the icon that comes up to see a video commentary on what you're watching.
What's the big deal? July 26, 2008 4 out of 13 found this review helpful
I was nine years old when Star Wars came out in 1977. I got the action figures, saw the movies dozens of times, all that stuff. I'm definitely a STAR WARS KID.
But the truth is, this Robot Chicken episode just isn't all that funny. I got way more enjoyment out of Family Guy - Blue Harvest, because it was a straight-up parody, not this disjointed rapid-fire collection of random sketches. I've always found Robot Chicken to be hit-and-miss, but I expected more from this highly-touted episode.
Now, if you find yourself among the folks who DID like it, you'll be thrilled by all the extras. Personally, I don't think this very average piece of work warrants so many bonus features.
