Amazon.com "I bought a car. Turned out to be an alien robot. Who knew?" deadpans Sam Witwicky, hero and human heart of Michael Bay's rollicking robot-smackdown fest, Transformers. Witwicky (the sweetly nerdy Shia LaBeouf, channeling a young John Cusack) is the perfect counterpoint to the nearly nonstop exhilarating action. The plot is simple: an alien civil war (the Autobots vs. the evil Decepticons) has spilled onto Earth, and young Sam is caught in the fray by his newly purchased souped-up Camaro. Which has a mind--and identity, as a noble-warrior robot named Bumblebee--of its own. The effects, especially the mind-blowing transformations of the robots into their earthly forms and back again, are stellar. Fans of the earlier film and TV series will be thrilled at this cutting-edge incarnation, but this version should please all fans of high-adrenaline action. Director Bay gleefully salts the movie with homages to pop-culture touchstones like Raiders of the Lost Ark, King Kong, and the early technothriller WarGames. The actors, though clearly all supporting those kickass robots, are uniformly on-target, including the dashing Josh Duhamel as a U.S. Army sergeant fighting an enemy he never anticipated; Jon Voight, as a tough yet sympathetic Secretary of Defense in over his head; and John Turturro, whose special agent manages to be confidently unctuous, even stripped to his undies. But the film belongs to Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and the dastardly Megatron--and the wicked stunts they collide in all over the globe. Long live Transformers! --A.T. Hurley

Great movie for Transformers fans (only) December 3, 2008 Technospaz (San Francisco, CA) This is an awesome movie for fans of the cartoon series, Transformers. The special effects are impressive and the voice-overs for the Autobots (particularly Peter Cullen who reprises his voice-over role as Optimus Prime) and Decepticons are authentic and add a lot to the movie. The downside to this movie, and the reason why I wouldn't give it 5 stars, is because of its storyline which seems somewhat weak. It felt as if the time had come to bring the cartoon to the silver screen but not enough thought was given into making the story more convincing. That said, if you are a Transformers fan, this movie is a must. At the very least, you'll get to see your animated robots on the movie screen (and done very well too) which is a real thrill. Having Peter Cullen voice Optimus Prime again after so many years is icing on the cake :) Watch out for the famous phrase, "one shall stand and one shall fall" - it made me giddy! Lastly, I think there can be no better way to watch this at home than on high-definition Blu-Ray format. The picture is incredibly crisp and audio quality is amazing. I've seen it on regular DVD but the Blu-Ray format brings the movie to life!
Pubescent Hormones and Robots Run Amok December 1, 2008 Corpsecorps (Western USA) While it's amusing enough, and the effects are impeccable, there's little doubt about the age of the intended audience. Every adult in the film is a clueless buffoon or an officious wacko. Whether apparently flirty bimbos or bookish babes, the girls are the intelligent ones while the "guys" are walking blobs of hormones and machismo. It's a nice bit of overblown fun even if it can't decide whether to be a serious thriller or a comedic adventure.
Funny, Entertaining and phenomenal special effects! November 27, 2008 S. A. ROBBINS (USA) This is one of the most entertaining movies in the last 20 years. And isn't that what movies are supposed to be? It is funny, cute, entertaining and the special effects are exceptional. And of course it has a great ending. Not much more one can ask for. Highly recommended to all ages but you have to have a sense of humor!
Great Movie November 24, 2008 Manuel M. Osorio (New York, NY) Love the re-incarnation/re-image, whatever you want to call it, can't wait for the next one.
Magnificent quality November 23, 2008 Robert F. Soto (Queens, N.Y USA) This is just one of many Blu-Ray movies that i have purchased that has given me a great movie experience, personally i feel that even in the movie theaters you don't get the HD experience that a Blu-Ray movie gives you. The Transformers movie gives you an awsome look at how much detail you can see because of the HD quality. You can actually see the littlest of details in the mechanics of the different moving parts in the robots. Just awesome!! Also the prompt delivery of your product, amazon will let you know the approximate date of delivery and will probably get there before the date of arrival. All in all i have had a great experience with Amazon.
