Not just Beginners August 21, 2008 dusty (Ohio) I work out daily mostly with advanced workout DVDs (Cathe, Amy, Mindy, etc.). I disagree that this is just for beginners. In fact, it has just the right pace to use heavy weights and if you do, it will kick your butt. Additionally, it is easy to add compound moves making it harder yet (static lunges with tricep overhead press, leg lift with bicep curls, etc.). Cindy is very pleasant and precise in her cuing. I definitely recommend this DVD to any fitness level.
Great for beginners! June 6, 2008 Sara Shipman (Ft Worth, TX USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This really is a great video if you haven't done much exercising before. You do get great results and you can customize your workout to suit your needs. Definitely a great place to begin a lifestyle of fitness! However, after about two months or so you'll begin to plateau and need to do a more intense work out to get stronger. May I recommend 10 Minute Solution - Kickbox Bootcamp? :) PROS: - Perfect for beginners - anyone can do this workout!! - Everything is in ten minute segments so you have no excuse not to work fitness into your lifestyle. - Each workout is thorough with a warm-up and a cool-down. - Clear instructions on the workouts. CONS: - People that already have a workout routine will not benefit much from this, and may find her explaining everything slightly annoying. - The workouts rarely get your heart rate up. - Like many other people have said, her cheerleader attitude gets pretty annoying after awhile. :)
Just What I've been Looking For! May 20, 2008 Elizabeth M. Pomeroy What I like best about this DVD is that the exercise sections really are just 10 minutes (and it goes by surprisingly fast!), but Cindy packs a lot into that short period of time and I've already started to see results! The exercises are all very doable and straight-forward--not a lot of coordination or rhythm required! :) The DVD is set up so you can choose which of the 5 sections (arms, abs, buns, thighs, or power stretch) you would like to do--I started out doing one per day, and am now up to three on a good day. It's a great workout and Cindy is good at keeping you motivated w/o driving you crazy!
Use it nightly (when I'm not too lazy); it's the best! March 18, 2008 Gail Slavin (Delray Beach, FL) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I originally previewed a ton of exercise DVDs by renting them from NetFlix. I figured that it would be cheaper to rent them than to buy them, only to find out they weren't what I wanted. This one's the one I purchased. I use it all the time. It's fantastic. It got me over the chronic pain from sciatica that I've had for 30 years. Nothing else has worked like this: not acupuncture, not other exercise programs, and not yoga. If you have chronic back pain, try this to strengthen your back and stomach, which supports a weak back. It's worth every penny and more.
Effective beginner workout March 8, 2008 Quigley (Denman Island, BC, Canada) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've spent the past couple of years getting really out of shape - 10 push ups is basically my limit. I decided to get this DVD after trying out some more advanced workouts and losing motivation because they were just too challenging. This isn't an easy workout for me, but it's short enough to be manageable for someone who's trying to build up their strength. A couple of other people said that she comes off like a kindergarten teacher at times, but it's really not that bad. She just says goofy things like, "What a great job on your abs!" My only complaint about this video is that the stretches aren't held long enough, and the power stretch segment at the end is only so-so. Maybe I'm just saying this because I'm a lot more advanced in yoga than I am in strength training, but I'd recommend pairing this with a proper yoga workout.
