Liked It March 15, 2010 CW I really am enjoying this DVD, easy to understand and follow the lessons. Has a good selection to work with and feeling stronger doing them.
Learn & Lose February 19, 2010 M. Bertrano I had no Pilates experience but borrowed a copy of this DVD from a friend, then bought a copy.
As a beginner to Pilates I found it very clear and easy to use. All you need to do is watch the introduction at the level you are using (Beginner, Intermediata or Challenging) and the instructor describes each move, including how it has been modified for you level, together with adjustments as you get stronger, though the fuller move is expanded upon on the next level.
I have dropped some weight and feeling stronger.
Not for beginners February 18, 2010 Jacqueline Wisdom (TN) I am new to Pilates and have not worked out regularly in about 4 years. The instructor seems "stiff" and her voice is a little annoying. She doesn't seem to enjoy Pilates herself which makes it hard to get excited about it. Some of the excercises, in my opinion, are not for beginners at all - way too hard, and there is not easier alternative to certain excercises for less experienced i.e. less fit people. It also doesn't seem to have a progression (beginning, middle, end)... There's a short warm up but then it's on the floor, up again, sit down, roll around... The whole video and it's setting seems very dated too...
Not what I expected February 12, 2010 T. C. Wiggins I have found this video informative. However I was hoping for more of a format that would have you to feel you were in a class setting with the relaxing pilates music. As far as the purchase and delivery through Amazon, this all went smoothly and promptly.
Good for beginners February 2, 2010 stella bella (US) I thought the video was overall good quality but felt that the "weight loss" part of the title was misleading. The beginner and intermediate are completely non challenging and more like yoga because it focuses more on stretching. For someone who really wants to lose weight it is kind of a waste of time. It is too low intensity for weight loss, at least for me. If you want to slowly relax and stretch, this would be perfect for that. And you need weights for half of the workouts which is hard to tell from the description. I really enjoy pilates but quite frankly I found this video to be kind of boring.
