Cheap piece of junk August 7, 2008 These gloves are a great concept; however, they are of ridiculous quality. When I put them on, 1 of them fits fine and the other I can barely get closed. They fell apart during my very 1st workout. The finger loops came apart. Luckily I was able to attach them back together with a safety pin. I like working out with these gloves, but I will definitely opt for something of higher quality when these completely fall apart. I would never buy these seperately from the turbo jam dvds.
Very Uncomfortable. May 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really excited to get the gloves, hoping to maximize my workout. Imagine how disappointed I was to realize that they were too small to fit my hands. They were extremely uncomfortable and by the end of my first workout with them, my hands were purple. I don't have large hands by any means, so unless your hands are unusually small, don't waste your money.
Good in theory; poor execution March 16, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got these gloves along with my Turbo Jam Maximum Results set I purchased the set off of Ebay. It appeared to come in a factory-sealed box. The gloves were still sealed in a bag that said "Beachbody"
I was dismayed to find that one of the gloves had the same side of velcro for both closures! This was a little annoying, but I figured it would be a relatively easy fix. I painstakingly and carefully used a seam-ripper to pull off one side and replaced it with some velcro I happened to have laying around (however, I'm guessing not everyone has spare pieces of velcro laying around or the desire to sew velcro to neoprene). I got past this little annoyance and used them in my workout.
I love that they add intensity to my workouts, and for the first two or three workouts, I had no problems with them. After a brief time, however, I noticed that every time I'm done with a workout, I had little bits of sand on my hands (and, no, I didn't sew through the weighted section of the gloves). I also didn't really believe they weighed 1 lb each; they just felt too light. I weighed each of them on my food scale: one weighs 12.25 ounces, and the other weighs 10.75!!!
I'm so torn with Beachbody because I LOVE the Turbo Jam they produce, but so many other things they put out is just junk. These gloves only held up for a week! I've also heard MANY horror stories of their customer service (or lack thereof).
In conclusion, weighted gloves are a GREAT concept. Unfortunately, these are cheaply made and simply aren't worth $5. I'm glad I got them "included" in a Turbo Jam set (that I happened to get for $68 including shipping) so that I could try them out; now I just have to find a decent pair!
Good idea, poor quality March 3, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
First the good: I was so excited to get these gloves. They took a little getting used to at first but after a couple of workouts they were pretty comfortable. You can wear them with the weight on the back of your hand, or in your palm, whichever is more comfortable for you. Personally I preferred the weight on the back of my hand. I found that wearing these gloves really improved my workouts, when incorporated with the Turbo Jam DVDs. They were a good weight in that I felt like they added difficulty, but they were not so heavy that I couldn't wear them for almost my whole workout.
Now the bad: These gloves are of exceptionally poor quality, and basically fell apart after very little use. After using them for two workouts (< 2 hours total), I noticed the velcro coming loose on one of them. I decided that it was something I could fix with a needle and some thread. By the end of my third workout, the finger loops on one of the gloves had come completely apart, leaving the glove flopping around on my hand when I am punching. I would try and fix it but I think the gloves are not of high enough quality to make it worth my effort. I am in the process of trying to contact beachbody for a replacement.
The bottom line: I'd highly recommend weighted gloves for use with the turbo jam workouts, just not this specific pair.
I agree w/ P. Reyes...they're OK,if FREE or ONE DOLLAR February 23, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Let me explain...I got them for FREE? w/ HIP HOP ABS (great workout,by the way) and that's right, they start to hurt on my thumb after a while. My solution is these little covered (with soft rubber) hand weights that kinda of look like brass knuckles inverted. I got them from TARGET a couple of summers ago for ONE DOLLAR a pair. I have two pairs and I can hold these with PURE comfort. I am glad I found them. I do still use the FREE weighted gloves occasionally though, just for something different. I am not having a leak with them so far and mine feel pretty close to a pound--I guess if they are cloth and filled with sand the accuracy could be off at times--ENJOY your workout people! I guess I'm spoiled now because I can't imagine paying OVER A DOLLAR for a 1 lb. weight!
