Nice relaxing workout November 7, 2008 Sarah Carpenter (Wisconsin) I gave this a five star rating based solely on that I feel Great after the workout. I bought it after a somewhat sedentary pregnancy (not much exercise due to repeated bouts of asthma & chest colds) and a c-section, and it is definitely rebuilding the exact muscles that are so damaged and under exercised after all that. I love that the video moves along quickly without tons of repetitions (for my short attention span), and I find Jonathan Urla to have a very relaxing tone in giving direction. It took me a few viewings to hear his breathing cues, and you definitely want to start the workout with the idea in mind that you need to pay attention to that, but once I started to hear his cues, I didn't have any problems. This is not as polished a video as many are, but I find that to be a much more relaxing approach. I also was not concerned about what some reviewers think are clunky transitions, as I am not too concerned about that. I suspect that if you are experienced in yoga this beginners video is not for you, but if you are just beginning the practice this is a low key way to start. I love that I could do it fresh from surgery and feel great afterwards, and I particularly love that when I am done I feel energized rather than drained. Bravo to Urla for a beginner's workout that works.
Probably not the best out there but not the worst either April 14, 2008 Mr. Michael J. Dunham These are decent DVD's except I don't understand why each DVD doesn't come with one session including instructional and motivational dialogue from Urla (this is what currently comprises the video) as well as a second session without all the dialogue, maybe with verbal ques on the next move. Urla has one of those nasal, feminine voices that isn't necessarily soothing or nice to listen to during yoga or pilates, in fact it can be downright grating. After three times going through the workouts with Urla's instruction I found myself clutching the remote and fast forwarding through his demos and chat. I find it so annoying that I'm searching for a new DVD set to work with.
Loved it February 10, 2008 Victoria Ortiz Dyck (Williams Lake, BC) This product is a great beginner's video for yogalates. I highly recommend it, very easy to follow and a satisfying yoga practice.
excellent February 8, 2008 Shomari Akil (Holliswood, ny) This product is great for anyone who is looking to get into working out but does not want to join a gym and who may not have the time to search out and join a pilates and/or yoga class.
Yogilates 1 - Beginner Workout September 20, 2007 J. CHIN (New York - USA) This DVD provides an excellent workout. A comparable DVD is Louise Solomon's Yoga & Pilates Total Body Toner (of Australia). My only gripe of these videos is that there is no indication of which moves are Pilates moves, Yoga moves or a combination of both. So, as far as breathing goes, it is always inhale or exhale ONLY. I have been taking Yogilates from an instructor who teaches the difference between Pilates and Yoga breathing techniques and when to use them.
