Amazon.com This dance class performed to live drums is similar to an aerobics class in that you elevate your heart rate with movements done to music, but it is different from what you'd see in an aerobics studio. The dancers are barefoot, the moves are more reminiscent of modern and jazz dance than an aerobic routine (though your heart rate won't know the difference), and the warm-up and all the moves are leading to a progressive routine. This video contains two separate workouts, each with its own warm-up and moves. The first emphasizes body rhythm and dynamics, led by Jennifer Kries. The second is a continuously flowing workout of modern- and jazz-dance movements, led by Lisa Wheeler. The goal of both is to increase physical strength, endurance, flexibility, and lengthening of the body. The video ends with a yogalike cool-down. If you want to get your exercise, and you'd prefer a dance class to traditional aerobics, this could be your workout solution. --Joan Price

not good....... November 16, 2007 A. Rochester (kent, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i thought there would be a jazzersize type workout but it was all stretching and ballet type moves
too complicated for this beginner July 22, 2007 J. Holmes (New York) I am new to home workouts, not a dancer (though I would like to be!)... I thought I would try some DVDs to get some stamina/muscles before attempting a real dance class. This video is too hard for me to follow, and I spend more time trying to figure out where to put my feet than actually working out. It seems decent enough to save it for when I'm more advanced and/or have some dance training under my belt, but for now it's not worth my time. (I am loving the bellydance workouts by Veena and Neena... very easy to follow but still hard work!)
Disappointing. March 8, 2007 I am 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
You will need a lot of room to do the exercises. I didn't think the video was very challenging and that I got a good workout.
Confusing directions February 23, 2007 catmusicgirl (St. Louis, Missouri) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
While I liked the workouts, I found the directions hard to follow. The first segment lessons moved along very quickly with the instructor assuming one knows the various moves, such as 'plie", and moves very, very quickly through each new move and changes or adds another move with little or no notice. I did enjoy both workouts but I know I will have to watch them and practice them both a number of times to 'get' all the moves. I would not suggest this DVD for a beginner. I use instructional workout videos alot, and I must say that I found this one of the more complicated to follow. I enjoyed the second dance segment best because it was more fluid and, for me, easier to learn. The music and drumming was great. One other thing, It appears that all of the dancers were professionals who do this type of dancing all the time. a bit intimidating for the average woman who is trying to learn as they are flying through the movements with such ease!! My suggestion would be for the instructors to go over each move much more slowly, explaining the dance terminology, and then put the moves and routines together.
Beginner to Expert - Buy this DVD NOW! September 1, 2006 Acting President (Garden City, KS USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I love love love this workout! I haven't seen a dance floor since I was five years old and this dvd makes me feel like a dancing diva! The conga drums are like a quiet thunder clap that accentuate the moves beautifully. I have NEVER before looked SO forward to a daily routine.
