Surprisingly good! July 4, 2008 I've grown up on Ana Caban pilates dvds, and she's great, but I was looking for something a little different so decided to give Rael Isacowitz a try... I have his pilates book, so I was somewhat familiar with his work, so I went for it.
When the dvd arrived, it said on the back that in this advanced workout he added challenging like the hundred and the corkscrew. These are fundamental exercise that many other dvds include in beginner's workouts, so I was worried it would be way too easy. Boy was I wrong!
The exercises are somewhat simple compared to some other workouts, but the flow and number of repetitions done makes the workout very challenging. The challenge comes not from doing very strenuous exercises (like the jackknife or balance control), but rather from doing simply movements efficiently and beautifully. I also think Rael's cues and imagery are very good and different than other video instructors.
Overall, I think this is a great video for a more advanced practitioner! After working on harder moves, it is very eye-opening to go back to more fundamental movements and really do them perfectly. Even the most advanced moves are just variations on the fundamental principles that are challenged in this video.
You won't be disappointed!
Wow! This is a must-have pilates workout. December 2, 2007 If you are looking for the ultimate pilates workout, this is it. I own numerous pilates dvds and videos and this one is BY FAR the best one I've tried. The workout is challenging, well-paced, and the techniques are thoroughly explained. Rael's gentle voice and encouraging attitude combined with his obvious expertise only add to the overall quality of this dvd. Trust me, this is the one to buy. All others are a disappointment after trying the Rael method.
Great dvd! May 13, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm new to Pilates. This one has been rated advanced, but it is still easy to follow. I can't do the moves nearly as gracefully or for as long in all of them, but it strengthens my core like nothing else has. I love the way all the moves flow from one to another continuously.
Rael Pilates System 27 - Excellent March 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love pilates and have struggled to find a suitable DVD which I can use to exercise at home. This DVD is, without a doubt, the best pilates DVD available. Rael is an outstanding instructor and is very knowledgeable. It is well presented. The people on the DVD do the movements beautifully and set a great example. The exercises flow from one into the other. The session is well structured and not disjointed (like other DVDs). It is challenging and I always feel good after using this DVD. I use this DVD everyday - I highly recommend it.
Magnificent workout!! March 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great workout for intermediate/advanced trainees. Rael is an astounding instructor. The workout is complete and has an overall adequate pace and vitality. The warm-up and cool down parts are well balanced. The presentation of the title menu is excellent as well. Couldn't have asked more from it!! I am extremely happy with this DVD.
