Editorial Reviews:

Book Description
He's the media's darling, the fresh face of the Democratic ticket. But what does Barack Obama really stand for--and will his extreme liberal agenda and complete inexperience in global affairs endanger the country? That's what David Freddoso, investigative reporter and National Review Online columnist, examines in The Case Against Barack Obama. In this shocking expose, Freddoso explores the reality behind the rhetoric, the plans behind the promises, and the faults behind the facade, revealing:

* Why Obama's inexperience and extreme left-wing voting record is more dangerous than any threat we face today
* Why the Rev. Wright debacle reveals Obama's poor judgment of character and deceitful nature
* Why it won't be politics of change with President Obama--it will be liberal politics as usual

Freddoso exposes the real Barack Obama: a typical big-government politician, the #1 most liberal U.S. senator, and--if he were commander in chief--a serious threat to our national security.

1 out of 5 stars Swift-boating at its most Disgraceful Level   August 29, 2008
1 out of 7 found this review helpful

There is not a drop of truth in this book. It is written by the same man who swift-boated Senator John Kerry in the 2004 elections and who for some ungodly reason hates America enough to try this sort of disgusting and dishonorable tactic again. For those of you who are not aware of this Rovian strategy developed to discredit the honorable service of Mr. Kerry in Vietnam, I strongly warn you against it. This man claimed that Kerry wounded himself to earn his Purple Hearts, an honor given to soldiers wounded in the line of duty, and that he shot his comrades and threw them into the river in order to save them and win more honors. These claims are farcical at best, pernicious at worst, and on all accounts completely FALSE. Yes, it may seem absurd, but this level of depravity is not only possible, it was shamelessly used and is now being flaunted again. It is an attempt to scare voters away from an ethnically different and religiously persecuted candidate running a campaign on ideas, not attacks, on unity, not dischord, on finding that common ground that all of us have. It is also funny that while it seems to intimate that Obama is a scheming Muslim, it at the same time condemns him for his Reverend Wright. Whatever works, I guess. And not to mention McCain has an anti-semitic old pastor himself, and that religion has no part in politics or government. This book is as perverse as it is ridiculous, and it's funny that the Republicans are just lapping it up, and your decorated war hero McCain has yet to condemn it. I guess he has no empathy for Mr. Kerry, who also served this country in Vietnamr, or even Mr. Obama, and is now using his service as a bludgeon and not an honor. Did this man ever consider that maybe McCain never went to that POW camp? No, yet his democratic counterpart from last time somehow does not deserve the same respect for service that is now awarded to McCain. Furthermore, this book (more like blatant propaganda offensive to the very nature of politics itself) goes against the accounts of Mr. Obama's family, his wife, his coworkers, and Mr. Obama himself. Reactionaries like to have fodder to go on, but this? It's total garbage and brings the utmost shame to anyone who even takes a word of it seriously. And by the way, I originally attempted to give this rubbish zero stars, but will have to settle with one because apparently zero is not possible. I assure you I stick with my original judgment: count this review as zero stars.

5 out of 5 stars About time. The final truth.   August 29, 2008

I would recommend this book to everyone who has no idea how the American Political system works. Some of this I already knew. Like dead people voting in the 1960 campaign with Kennedy. Obama is the left wing media sweet heart and has no busniess running for President.

1 out of 5 stars Book is misnamed   August 29, 2008

I question whether this author has really spent as much time in Washington DC as he claims. He cherry-picked Obama's quotes, taking them out to context, to make his points against Obama to accuse him of some sinester agenda including "baby killing."

But if the author really wants to slam a politician, he should broaden his net and write scatheing report about ALL the Washington politicians.

One example: He sites that the hospital system Michelle Obama worked for nearly tripled her salary, from $121k to more than $300k and then later, Obama appropriated more than $1M to the hospital system. Yes, this is disgusting, but it is "politics as usual" in both parties...and has been ever since lobbying became legal in this country. Pay offs and pay backs are part of the political territory in *all* governments; ours is no exception.

The examples are endless of way the author picked apart what Obama has said, done, written over the years. Is it any wonder, with scoundrel reporters and mud-slinging speach writers abounding, that we have been stuck with the few political "look-alike choices" we have had over the last few elections? By the time we are 50-ish, we all have skeletons we would not want aired. All really good people have made mistakes they would not want in the public eye. Fewer still could tolerate having every word and opinion -- back many years -- scrutinized.

I really couldn't finish this book. The author really missed the mark with his incorrect premise. There is no case against Obama that could not be aimed against everyone on Capital Hill.

5 out of 5 stars Evidence that Obama is not a Reformer, Same-O Politician   August 27, 2008

Just the facts, no emotion, no rhetoric. Case after case of the results that Obama achieved through his career, his work with the Chicago machine, his symbiotic relationship with slumlords, his rise in the Democratic party, and his sticking to the Liberal party line. In fact, Obama changed his views on the Iraq war based on whether it would help John Kerry (in 2004) or hurt Hillary Clinton (2006). In 2004, Obama says, he was with Bush's plan since it'll help John Kerry and John Edwards [they both voted for the war]. In 2006 before the midterm election, Obama was against setting a withdrawal date. But once he started to run against Hillary he came out for immediate withdrawal, and said he was against the war from day one, "I've been against it -- 2002, 2003, 2004, etc."

Obama is exactly what his pastor Jeremiah Wright said, "Politicians say what they say and do what they do because of electability". Starting from his roots in the Chicago machine, he has been consistently against reform, and loyal to the system, whether it's Mayor Daley, Emil Jones, William Ayers, Tony Rezko, and now Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden. Don't expect Obama to make any change, he's just the Same-O, Same-O politician.

Just finished it. I do not belong to any party, and just want to be informed. The way the media is pushing Obama on us makes me realize that I need other sources of info. This is an important election, and this man wants to be our president. I thank the author for doing his homework and providing us with a pretty fair presentation of the Obama we don't get to see. Hey, if you love Obama, I guess you won't like this book, but I really didn't find too much in the content to warrent such bitter accusations from a lot of these negative responses.
