A keeper March 19, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I liked this book and will recomend it! I see a series with Vandemark and Levitt teaming up in their retirement. The lack of a clear cut demise of the bad guy Camden makes me think we will see him again. If done will this would be a great movie on a par with Manhunter, Stir of echoes and Sixth sense. I hope to see more from these authors.
An Original Twist May 2, 2000 Deborah A. Woehr (San Jose, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A man who hunts serial killers. It was a thrilling concept. The plot and characters were very good, but I agree with one reader who said he would've liked to have seen Camden get his just reward. The Latino killer was especially frightening. Very tight suspense where he was concerned.
Good concept, lousy execution. August 4, 1998 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
Sometimes, I log on to amazon to see what my fellow readers have to say of a book I've just read. Usually, if not always, I find some reviews that had spotted the same weaknesses in it. Incredibly, I don't find that to be the case here. PREDATORS is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most ineptly written book I've ever had the misfortune of reading, and I'm including THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY in with that company. It's inconceivable, to me, that not only had Warner considered it fit to be published, but that some lamebrain in Hollywood saw fit to buy the movie rights and to actually green light the project! The characters are flat, at best, the action implausible, the dialogue about as graceful as an overloaded washer, and the (thank God) only love scene in this loser of a novel actually made me laugh out loud. To top things off, the alleged writers have no real knowledge of firearms or law enforcement procedure, to say nothing of baseline writing skills. ! I can't believe that I actually wasted seven dollars on this turkey. The problem is, though, once you buy a book, you're committed.
Excellent suspense novel that is totally original. July 31, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am normally a slow reader, so for me to have read the book in only two days, says a lot about its interesting plot and characters.I was very intrigued by the serial killer stalker twist. However, the most original and frightenning part of the book was what occured with the NYC killings. I have recommended this book to many friends.
Interesting Plot Devices April 8, 1998 This was a really good read for the most part. Exciting , interesting protaganists but the action just fell flat near the end...I loved the anti-hero element and think this could be a great series. Work on keeping that action consistant and please for goodness' sake let us *know* the miseries the bad guy (ie Camden) goes through. It's just not the same when we get to see the rest of the bad guys suffer and not the biggest baddie of them all. I want details on how he was made to pay for his sins. Voyeuristic? Perhaps, but so was my involvement all along the way. Kudos for Vandemark, he's a great character and I'd love to hear more about his adventures with his lady love. More of all the survivor's if you please...what *will* Leavitt do in retirement after being manhunter extraordinaire? I must know. Keep up the good work...just make sure you let me know how those bad guys bite the dust.
