Disappointing January 6, 2000 Stuart A. Harvey (Los Angeles, CA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Although the instruction was clear, this video was very disappointing. The mixed content (i.e. waltz, foxtrot, and swing) does not lend itself well to an instructional tape. A better choice would be to purchase tapes which focus on each dance. Additionally, I've never encountered the basic East Coast Swing step that Cal teaches; it is unique.
very, very, very simple May 6, 1999 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased this tape and shortly thereafter began dance lessons. Everything Cal covered was covered in the 1/2 hour of the first lesson. Although you are offered a good intro in the tape, it never goes past the very basics of the dance.
Forget about this tape. Go for something else !! March 19, 1999 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased a copy of Carl Pozo's Vol Two - Swing & Slow dances which was available in CD in my country and quite frankly, I was confused as the steps introduced are too basic with only two variations or so per dance. It turned out as I watched further, that he was teaching the Waltz steps which look 'unfamiliar' in my many years of dancing. Subsequently, I think he did the American Tango steps, again it was too basic to be of any use.I would pass it on to someone else .
Good Instruction, minimum difficulty January 8, 1999 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This video does not really focus on a specific dance (Waltz, foxtrot, etc), but rather instructs dance steps for all occasions and slow music types. If you want to learn a specific dance, I suggest one Cal Pozo's other videos (I liked Salsa Merengue video). The instruction is good and at a beginner level. Professional set & dancers. 50 minutes. Swing dance instruction is basic steps and not too athetlic (Lindy style). Enough to get started though.
Amazing!!! January 4, 1999 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Learning to dance with this video is so simple. My fiance and I went from Laurel and Hardy to Fred and Ginger in about 20 minutes. I highly recommend this video to any lady trying to teach the man in her life to dance, and enjoy dancing.
