Very effective language builder May 14, 2007 Pam Bruno My son's vocabulary is insanely advanced (at 16 months old he had 50 words), and I think this video series has helped. He was a super preemie so therapists were urging us to stay on top of his development (at one point his speech seemed behind). One therapist recommended this video series a few months ago. We play these videos (alternating Volumes 1 & 2) for him once every couple of days. He's suprisingly entertained by them (there's no story, just pictures of things while a voice names them: Baby, Ball!) But he soaks it up, and recently started talking up a storm, pointing to things and yelling Lion! etc. Of course the videos don't get all the credit. I constantly narrate to him. But I highly recommended this video series.
major recomendation for this Entire video collection. October 20, 2006 mommy2one my daughter will soon be four and started watching these videos at 1yr. her vocabulary is quite large now. the videos are fun for children since they are full of kids of all ages. i would give this more stars if i could.
Great July 5, 2005 Rebecca Carter (Cincinnati, Ohio) My 22 month old loves this tape but he still has not spoken his first words. The music is relaxing and the pictures are intriguing. I would recommend it but do not count on it helping your child speak if he or she has speech delays.
Bee Smart Baby, Vocabulary Builder 1 & 2 December 16, 2003 Jessica L. Turner (Tampa, FL United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
These are wonderful videos for babies ages 6 months or so, to about 2 or 3. Children I babysit for have them; and they are mesmorized by the soft, kind voice of the narrator, and the life-like pictures shown in the video. The neat thing about these videos is the simplicity of them, and the repetition that keeps the babies interested. They'll show, for example, "feet"---and slowly, but interestingly, show many different sizes and colors of feet, then, later in the video, you'll see the feet again. The narrator says the name of the object being shown, once when the object is first shown, then again, later on in the video. Kids don't even know they're learning! Excellent videos!
Great for Speech Delayed Kids July 10, 2003 S. Vitale (Phoenix, AZ USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My children have speech delays. I was skeptical that my kids would watch these videos avidly as stated by other reviewers of the videos. But they did. They watch them over and over and over and my oldest changes between the 3 tapes we have (he's 4) and him and his younger brother and sister watch them while they are playing. I just wish there were more everyday words! I'd rather my kids could say "bath" rather than "helicopter," but these tapes are great...and they are helping.
