Amazon.com This beginning-level 1988 video was previously titled 30 minute Non- Aerobic Trim & Tone. After a standing warm-up, Denise Austin and class participants get down on the mat to tone the hips, thighs, and abdomen. Some of the exercises are very effective, such as the varied series for the abs. Some are outdated, such as pelvic tilts for the buttocks (squats and lunges are much more effective). Most are traditional floor work for the lower body, such as a variety of side-lying leg lifts that target the inner and outer thighs. A nice touch is the use of insets with alignment and technique tips to help you know you're doing the exercises correctly. The exercises are not as up-to-date as her later videos, but if you're just getting used to exercising, you'll get simple exercises and technique. --Joan Price

Tones every muscle group March 19, 2000 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great work-out for toning every muscle group in the body. It is great for alternating with other workouts throughout the week. I highly recommend this video for both beginners and for individuals who have been working out for a long time.
Great Workout for Beginners January 13, 2000 Michelle Barry (Mercerville, NJ USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had this video for about 2 years now. It was the 1st workout video I ever purchased. I found it easy and effective. I noticed an improved difference in my clothing sizes within 6 weeks. The video quality could be better but overall, I love this video.
I love this video December 7, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Having suffered minor, but irritating, injuries to my knees and back, I find most aerobic workouts either too easy, or they strain my joints. This workout is perfect for me. It's slow enough that I can concentrate on my movements without pain, and effective enough to make a visable difference. Good job Ms Austin, and thanks a million!
Simple to follow. May 14, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This video is very effective. I lost about a full dress size while doing this video only 3 times a week. It can be an excellent add on for your other workouts (so it doesn't get stale).
Absolutely a low-impact work-out with proven results! April 1, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I borrowed this from a friend, did it once, and fell in love. It gives you a full body workout without all the jumping up and down. Each major problem area (abs, thighs, arms, buttocks) receives an intense focus and you REALLY do feel it and see the results. I have finally found it in a store, had them hold it for me until I could pick it up. It is awesome!!!!!!
