5 out of 5 stars The BEST workout video around...   May 9, 2004
I highly recommend this workout video; it's not too hard and not too easy---- it's just right for people who want a really top-notch workout.

Hopefully Kathie will put out another workout video sometime in the future.

4 out of 5 stars Great cardio and toning workout   November 9, 2002

My sister-in-law gave me this workout video back in 1997. I used this workout on and off for over four years. I no longer use this video since I joined a gym a year ago, but I wanted to write about my experiences with it.

Being a skinny guy, I wanted a workout that would help me get good muscle tone. This video definitely delivered! The video starts out with about a 10 minute warm-up. I found the warm-up to be a little too long. After the warm-up, the video goes into the aerobic interval segments. First you do the low-impact aerobic steps, then you go to your weights. Then back to aerobic steps, then back to weights, and so on... The steps in this video are very easy to learn. I am very uncoordinated, and after about six times I had the steps pretty well memorized. The weights in the workout really help tone your arms. The participants in the video used small hand weights -- 2 to 5 pounds -- but I used 15 to 25 pound weights as I progressed.

After the main part of the aerobics and weights, there is a section doing various types of squats. One of the squats were very hard on my knees, and I do NOT normally have knee problems. I think that section of squats should be re-evaluated. I ended up modifying that section of the squats.

As I progressed and used this video more and more, I had to modify the video to make it more difficult for myself. During the squats -- in addition to modifying the section of squats that hurt my knees -- I added weights and adjusted the number of reps I did. This really helped me to firm up my butt!

The video ends with abdominals. These exercises killed me when I first did them, but I as I progressed they became easier. Looking back, I think the abdominal portion of the tape could have been better.

This video is good for beginners and intermediate exercisers. If you are advanced, you will have to modify this video to make it more challenging.

The only real drawbacks to this video are the one section of squats that I mentioned earlier, and also, I think that after a while, the moves to this video become very monotnous and boring.

Overall, I am giving this video four stars. It will definitely help you get into shape and tone your body. If you are new to exercising, this workout will definitely make you sweat. It is also very good that weights are used because they really help to tone your arm muscles. Plus, they say that using weights increases metabolism more than just cardio alone.

Great for beginners/intermediate. ...

5 out of 5 stars Still fabulous!!after 2 pregnancys!!!!!!!   May 20, 2002

Kathies' video has become a dear friend, the workout is great for getting and staying in shape without any of the intimidating paces set by other w/outs. I have been using it for many years...it helped me get in shape after having my son, (he fell in love with Kathie at 2 years of age!) because I used it so much...heres something funny....the week I got to my goal weight (125lbs) I found out I was pregnant with my second child!! I was so thankful that I had shed all that previous baby weight and did'nt carry it over to the next preg. Kathy...please think about getting with C.B ( a total pro) and making another video??? We all love your sense of humor and wish Lori Johnson, and your adorable sister the best...and your pal with the black belt too!!!!

5 out of 5 stars best workout I've seen   January 9, 2001

I've been using this video for years. I have several others, but they were all too stressful. This video is a 45 minute low-impact workout which is designed for overall body fitness. The intro tells you how to monitor your heart rate. I'm not fond of Kathie Lee, but instructor C.B. Yelverton, who designed and leads the program, is wonderful. After a few go-throughs, I was able to turn the volume down and listen to music or an audio tape.

5 out of 5 stars I hope it is rereleased soon.   March 30, 2000

This is a fun, all over workout. You really feel like you have had an aerobic workout plus muscletoning in a reasonable amount of time. I am not a Katie Lee fan, but I love the intervals. I never get bored of doing the same thing over and over. I hope the studie desides to rerelease the video.
