Amazon.com Are you aware that 75 percent of daily conversation is negative? While you may not have noticed that, you are no doubt aware of the stress and hassles of everyday life. Loretta LaRoche, an adjunct member on the faculty of the Behavior Institute of Medicine, which is an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, is determined to break you out of your cycle of negativity. Half comedian, half therapist, Loretta wants you to see the lighter side of situations. After all, optimists live longer. "Pessimists are accurate," she says, "but they don't live as long." In this hour-long video, The Joy of Stress, Loretta humorously teaches you how to adopt a critical tenet of Alcoholics Anonymous: "fake it till you make it"--how to act cheerful until it begins to come naturally. Life needs more belly laughs, she points out, and she teaches you exactly how to have them. You only thought you knew the proper way to laugh. Peppering her seminar with stories about her own Italian grandmother, her husband, and herself, Loretta's act surpasses that of many lesser comedians. Using different hats and different attitudes, Loretta will teach you how to loosen up and have you laughing (at her as well as at yourself) while you're doing it. This video works well by itself or in conjunction with her other two tapes, Humor Your Stress and How Serious Is This? --Jenny Brown
Description Loretta LaRoche shows you how to prevent "hardening of the attitude" and use humor to break the negative and irrational thought patterns that cause stress, and reframe them into powerful, positive tools for change.

The Joy of Stress April 5, 2008 I would recommend this to anyone--man or woman--who has not laughed in a day or so. I am 60 and enjoyed her work and played it for adult women in their 20's and they appreciated it as well.
Each day is a Gift, enjoy the present! December 13, 2007 Loretta LaRoche is a wonderful speaker and helps us to see what is important in our daily lives and what things give us unnecessary stress. She clowns around helping us to laugh off many things that aggravate us, like crazy drivers. Life is a gift and make that gift happen every day! I think this program would be useful for everyone, but it is so important to those who are suffering from diseases/illness and need to make each day count.
"Afulizing and Catastrophizing" December 3, 2007 Yes friends, we watched this fine comic routine in the "biofeedback, somatics, and stress management" class at SSU. Very funny stuff. I would like to send a copy to my grandparents for christmas. Probably enjoyed by all ages and personalities.

You Want Cheese with That Whine?? November 9, 2007 You'll LOVE "The Joy of Stress" DVD by Loretta LaRoche! She is a very dynamic speaker and draws one in from the moment she starts speaking until the minute she stops. Her sense of humor keeps you laughing and teaches one that life is to be lived -- not to be spent in pessimism. Look at the positive side of life! Laugh -- and see how much better you feel. If you can possibly watch this DVD and not laugh, then I recommend seeing a doctor because your funny bone is broken! She's awesome. You want to decrease stress in your life -- buy "The Joy of Stress" today!

This was hilarious and really does point out what stress can do to you and how to overcome it! I used the video in my staff meeting and it was a huge success. I think we'll watch it yearly just to keep it fresh in our memories! I'd highly recommend this video.
