Amazon.com At a time when we know so much about choosing safe, effective exercises, reissuing Cindy Crawford's 1992 best-selling disaster, Shape Your Body, is inexcusable. Swimsuit-clad Cindy puts herself through flings and gyrations that show off her body but aren't any good for anyone else's. She presents one after another of the exercises that fitness professionals threw out of their routines two decades ago because they're ineffective and risky to back and joints. Her alignment is awful; her control nonexistent. She rounds her back and flings her leg into high kicks. She does squats letting her knees go way past her toes. Even when the exercises are decently chosen and performed, she does them much too quickly, relying on momentum instead of muscle power, such as two-second bent-over rows. Trainer Radu, who designed and coached this workout, should be sentenced to an eternity of fast donkey kicks, leg swings, and trunk circles. This "toning" video would be a joke, except that you really could get hurt following it. In fact, when Shape Your Body first came out, fitness expert Peg Jordan, author of Fitness Instinct, appeared on CNN warning viewers about the risks of this video. "I received a call from a chiropractor who had treated 12 patients' back injuries from that video alone!" she recalls. If you've got to have this one, watch it only, don't do it. --Joan Price

Really helped with weight loss! November 24, 2008 Marla (Louisiana) About 16 years ago I purchased the "Cindy Crawford Shape Your Body" VHS tape! It helped me to lose 30 pounds back then. Now, three kids later, I realized that I needed to find Cindy again :) I was thrilled to find the same video (on DVD this time) on Amazon.com. I purchased it and still love it! Of course, it's not as easy this time, I'm 16 years older now! LOL. Perfect for someone who wants to have an exercise regimen in her home - great music with it too!
It'll definately shape your body! September 30, 2008 K. Swan (Everett WA) Newly obsessed with losing weight and toning my body, I bought this DVD off the recommendation of an aquaintance who had good results. This video will make you notice muscles in places you didnt know existed! The DVD does tend to run fast, but I still took it at my own pace and slowed down when I felt it appropriate. The switches in scenes make the video interesting, but Id love to see a whole video taped on the beach, as I felt the pace was more appropriate. Would definately recommend but with lots of emphasis on stretching well before and after the programs.
Be careful not to overwork your knees August 28, 2008 IreneR (US) I agree with other reviewers who have commented here on the effect of this video on one's joints. I myself developed a very bad knee problem because of this video that lasted for months. The video is too fast so it doesn't strengthen your muscles, just puts a lot of stress on your joints. Cindy's form in this video is pretty terrible, particularly in lounges, where her knee goes way over her toes. I use this video occasionally for abwork and stretches, but when I do use it, I don't do the reps as fast as she does. Instead of this one, I would recommend the sequel to this video (New Challenge) which is quite decent.
Good workout video July 18, 2008 J. Mackie (Boston, MA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This workout video is good. It gives 3 options, which is great if you don't have time to do a long workout. The variation is great and really works all parts of the body. It goes by quickly and I feel like I really got a great workout when it is over. My only complaint is that the reps are a little too fast and I sacrifice form for reps. Try "The Next Challenge" by Cindy Crawford. It's her second video and improved on the first.
Cindy Crawford- Shape Your Body July 14, 2008 Carol Steusloff (Post Falls, Idaho) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the best work out video I own. It is great for beginners and great for experienced exercisers. Every exercise is visible and explained in detail. I have the VHS tape and ordered the DVD then my son showed some interest and I sent him the DVD. He is doing the exercises and loves it!! Thank you!
