Product Description
Approximately one million Americans per year take high doses of prednisone and related drugs. While these medicines may be necessary to treat serious illnesses, they may also have unpleasant, and even devastating, side effects, including changes in mood, weight, and physical strength, and vulnerability to infection. In 1997, after acclaimed flutist Eugenia Zukerman was prescribed prednisone for a rare lung disease, she teamed up with her sister, Harvard physician Julie Ingelfinger, to write the first book that helps patients deal with the side effects of the prescription. This welcome update to a superb resource—which is still the only book on the subject— covers the latest knowledge about bone health, the use of steroids for children, and new steroid compounds, along with additional strategies and exercises based on their own experiences and responses from other patients and physicians.

a MUST HAVE... November 21, 2009 D. Vigliotti (long island) Anyone taking, possibly going to take or have taken Prednisone, Please read this book. It explains a lot of things that go on with you physically and emotionally while on the medicine. It is an easy read and really did help straighten out a few things I wasn't aware of now that I am tapering off prednisone. Also, highlight some pages for your family to read.
Coping with Prednisone September 17, 2009 Kelly Broughton Very good book and would recommend it for anyone having to go on this steriod. Will help them to understand what to expect and gives some good ideals how to deal with the side effects. I have even mentioned it to my doctor.
coping with prednisone April 19, 2009 Archibald (South Carolina) A very good resource for anyone going on short term or long term prednisone therapy especially the suggestions about diet and coping with changes in mood/sleep. M.Ds should be recommending this to their patients.
A Must Read for Anyone Facing Prednizone March 12, 2009 JL (Western U.S.) My title says it all--If you are facing Prednizone therapy, this book is a must read. Granted, it is one person's perspective, but it is an important heads-up to the possible side effects.
Very helpful and even entertaining October 21, 2008 Waltraud Spice (Metro Detroit, Michigan) I really enjoyed this book - it answered so many questions the doctors just did not go into. You hear so many horror stories of being on steroids and this put it into prospective and also gave you an idea of things to look out for. The human interest of the 2 women made it easy to relate to and easy to read and understand.
