Product Description
Originally self-published to enormous acclaim and demand, Sacred Pampering Principles is a beautifully written guide with hundreds of easy and innovative ways for on-the-go women to pamper their bodies and nurture their spirits.

With her holistic approach to filling your life with comfort, balance, and peace, Debrena Jackson Gandy debunks society's myth that doing something for yourself is decadent and selfish. In fact, she says, the joy we gain from treating ourselves--whether to a luxuriant bath or to a meditative hour alone--is transferred to the people in our lives. When we emerge rejuvenated, others benefit from a patient mother, a fulfilled wife, an effective coworker, a solidly grounded friend.

Written for African-American women, but accessible to women of all races, Sacred Pampering Principles demonstrates not only pampering ideas, but also explains why pampering, for less time and money than one might imagine, is vital to a balanced life.

I purchased this book from Ms. Gandy personally during one of her seminars back in 1998. She has created book superb book! For the last ten years, I have kept this book at my night stand and I still pull it out for reference. Good job and good stuff!

A funny and insightful beginning slowly becomes an enlightening mirror. Ms. Gandy encourages self examination that ultimately stimulates self renewal. I took a retreat one weekend to read this book and get it together.

I'm still working on applying some of the practical principles. My attitude is different now - not cocky but more confident and peaceful because Ms. Gandy made me realize that I can't take care of someone help without taking care of myself first. Although some of the principles are not my style, the overall theme and development definitely woke me up!

3 out of 5 stars Not bad but too much   November 7, 2001

When I think of pampering, I think of kicking back and relaxing. If I have to work too hard to get to this point, is it still pampering? This is a decent book with good suggestions but if you are busy, you may want to get to a spa or a good massage school for a discounted massage. I see where Debrena is going with her suggestions and I was enlightened to read about chakras and aromatherapy. If I was going to go into this type of business, this would be and XLNT book but for the SBW or any other woman this may be a bit much.
