Indispensable! November 4, 2009 DeLyndea (North Alabama, USA) This book and the main book (The New Glucose Revolution: The Authoritative Guide to the Glycemic Index) are essentials for anyone living with and striving to manage diabetes.
The New Glucose Revolution November 4, 2009 Brenda B. Bundy When I get ready to purchase a product, I always look to Amazon.Com first to check prices. This purchase was no different. The book was as expected, shipping was fast, and the price was good. I would recommend this product.

I was very excited when I ordered this book. However, I was disappointed when I read it. Almost half the book is a repeat of information in the author's other book on the GI. Next, I would estimate 50% of the foods in the book are not available in the United States. Presumably they are foods available in Australia where the author is from. It would have been nice to know this in advance. I'm not sure I would buy this again.
Very disappointing May 3, 2009 P. Vela (Corte Madera, CA United States) 40 out of 42 found this review helpful
This book is very disappointing. I bought it in order to help myself make better choices for meals and snacks, and to also make better choices for my kids' snacks. First of all, it appears to be an advertisement for "President's Choice" line of foods, which have tons of listings in almost every food category, and I have never even heard of them. After a little web research I found that those foods are Canadian, which helps explain why I had not heard of them. This also may explain why I haven't heard of many of the brands listed in the book. And something like "Balance Bars," which are highly distributed everywhere, aren't even listed! How on earth Balance Bars aren't listed in this book boggles my mind. That's my, and many, kids' snack of choice and I have no idea if it is helping them or hurting them. Perhaps this book is just a rehash of an old version of the book? The yogurt section has 35 Yoplait yogurt listings, 10 Nestle yogurt listings, and only 3 generic listings. Is this an ad for Yoplait yogurt? Why would you need 35 Yoplait yogurt listings??? It makes one think that they just wanted to fill up some pages to make it appear they did research.
Again, overall this book is very disappointing and unusable for me. I wasted my money.

Dr. Jennie Brand Miller has been good with Glycemic Index information for a long time; she still is. This book is exactly what I have needed to keep a short rein on my Type II Diabetes. Good book, good marketing by Amazon. Many thanks
