Product Description

What’s Your GenoType?

GenoType 1
The Hunter
Tall, thin, and intense, with an overabundance of adrenaline and a fierce, nervous energy that winds down with age, the Hunter was originally the success story of the human species. Vulnerable to systemic burnout when overstressed, the Hunter’s modern challenge is to conserve energy for the long haul.

GenoType 2
The Gatherer
Full-figured, even when not overweight, the Gatherer struggles with body image in a culture where thin is “in.” An unsuccessful crash dieter with a host of metabolic challenges, the Gatherer becomes a glowing example of health when properly nourished.

GenoType 3
The Teacher
Strong, sinewy, and stable, with great chemical synchronicity and stamina, the Teacher is built for longevity—given the right diet and lifestyle. This is the genotype of balance, blessed with a tremendous capacity for growth and fulfillment.

GenoType 4
The Explorer
Muscular and adventurous, the Explorer is a biological problem solver, with an impressive ability to adapt to environmental changes, and a better than average capacity for gene repair. The Explorer’s vulnerability to hormonal imbalances and chemical sensitivities can be overcome with a balanced diet and lifestyle.

GenoType 5
The Warrior
Long, lean, and healthy in youth, the Warrior is subject to a bodily rebellion in midlife. With the optimal diet and lifestyle, the Warrior can overcome the quick-aging metabolic genes and experience a second, “silver,” age of health.

GenoType 6
The Nomad
A GenoType of extremes, with a great sensitivity to environmental conditions—especially changes in altitude and barometric pressure, the Nomad is vulnerable to neuromuscular and immune problems. Yet a well-conditioned Nomad has the enviable gift of controlling caloric intake and aging gracefully.

The author of the international bestseller Eat Right 4 Your Type again breaks new ground with the first diet plan based on your unique genetic code.

With Eat Right 4 Your Type and additional books in the Blood Type Diet series, Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo pioneered a new, revolutionary approach to dieting—one linked to a person’s blood type. In the GenoType Diet, he takes his groundbreaking research to the next level by identifying six unique genetic types. Whether you are a Hunter, Gatherer, Teacher, Explorer, Warrior, or Nomad, Dr. D’Adamo offers a customized program that compliments your genetic makeup to maximize health and weight loss, as well as prevent or even reverse disease. In simple, concise prose, Dr. D’Adamo explains how a host of environmental factors, including diet and lifestyle, dictate how and when your genes express themselves. He goes on to demonstrate precisely how, with the right tools, you can alter your genetic destiny by turning on the good genes and silencing the bad ones. Your health risks, weight, and life span can all be improved by following The GenoType Diet that’s right for you.

Using family history and blood type, as well as simple diagnostic tools like fingerprint analysis, leg length measurements, and dental characteristics, Dr. D’Adamo shows you how to map out your genetic identity and discover which of the six GenoType plans you should follow. Without expensive tests or a visit to the doctor, The GenoType Diet reveals previously hidden genetic strengths and weaknesses and provides a precise diet and lifestyle plan for every individual. Based on the latest and most cutting-edge genetic research, this is a twenty-first-century plan for wellness and weight loss from a renowned healthcare pioneer.

5 out of 5 stars Diet of the Future   November 25, 2008
K. Cuervo (West Palm Beach, FL)
This book explains why popular diets such as Atkins or vegan work for some people and not for others. I was gaining weight & losing muscle on a vegan diet, even while drinking green spinach smoothies Green for Life all day! After reading this book and discovering my genotype, now I know that my body also requires lean meats. My digestive problems are gone already and I'm not even following the diet 100% yet. I can meet the requirements at my grocery & health food store without investing in expensive products. I'm happy that by simply adding the healthy foods suggested for my genotype and staying away from the ones that produce harmful "leptins", I'm practicing smart preventive medicine and losing weight.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Continuation and Growth of D'adamo's past books   October 14, 2008

I'm fairly new to D'adamo's books and concepts. I was recommended to his writings from my naturopath to help heal my chronic stomach issues. I've been following his earliest work "Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type" with amazing success.

I also bought and read his newer Genotype book. This breaks down body and blood types even further for more specialized food lists. I cannot wait to gradually shift into my new diet role as a "teacher soon". Besides weight loss, which is the goal for most "diet" books, I truly feel D'adamo's teachings are wonderful for those like me struggling with seemingly random persistent discomfort that likely stem from the food you are putting into your body.

5 out of 5 stars Not A "One Size Fits All" Like The Others   September 27, 2008

I've been on this program for almost 11 months now and I've never felt better. My weight also, hasn't been this low since 2002! I have lost about 18 pounds and this is huge for a middle aged woman! I've tried every diet plan out there from Atkins to Weight Watchers with no success. When I started eating for my GenoType, the weight started coming off, and I am very pleased with the program. Dr. D'Adamo is a pioneer in blood and genetics. I will eat this way for the rest of my life! Thank you Dr. D'Adamo for your research and my health (I am also one of his patients)!

An excellent adjunct to the Eat Right for your Blood Type. I have a new sense of freedom around food now that I know what is best for me and I am starting to see results in my body.

3 out of 5 stars Needs a 2nd Edition.   August 31, 2008

I'd suggest a 2nd edition of this book or even a new book called Lived Right 4 Your Genotype. There was a good deal of confusion early on among Blood Type dieters on the community boards (including myself) who didn't realize this diet is fundamentally different then the Blood Type diet.

Dr. D'Adamo has clarified a lot of this on his website, dadamo.com, and the 2nd edition could begin with the explanation that Blood Type Diet is targeted at people struggling with illness and Genotype diet looks at other genetic factors to create a diet for longevity. There is a calculator on D'Adamo's website that helps determine which diet to follow.

With that clarification out of the way, the theoretical contents of the 1st edition, which explains the emerging scientific knowledge of genetics and epigenetics, could be introduced and the 6 genotypes explained. The measurements and the basic and intermediate calculators for Genotype are introduced.

The Advanced Calculator as well as some of the helpful recipes and meal plans would be contained on a CD-ROM since, as Dr. D'Adamo claims, computer programs are more effective at customizing the large quantity of nutritional information for an individual.

Now, the food lists could also be fine-tuned to emulate the helpful refinements of Blood Type lists in Live Right 4 Your Type. This means focusing firstly on the postitive by listing Superfoods and Neutral foods, and secondly a tiered system of Avoid Foods, providing additional guidance on the most harmful foods and food additives.

Another new section would help explain Dr. D'Adamo's selection process for foods in more detail than what was revealed in the 1st edition.

These revisions could make The Genotype Diet a far more accessible book with the potential for a long-lasting impact on people's diets, much like Eat Right 4 Your Type, which as already outlived scathing attacks as "a fad diet," and outlasted ignorant attacks of having "no scientific validity." Until this 2nd edition emerges, almost all this information is available for free on dadamo.com.
