I feel I'm kinda going out on a limb here, ... June 25, 2008 D. Kleber (Platte Center, Nebraska United States) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I KNOW each and every single person is different, ... so please, do not take this as an insult. I'm only telling you what worked for me. I've tried this Atkins Diet. I lost weight, but I missed my sweets too much. I also tried the low-fat diet. Again, I lost weight, but I missed my cheese too much. I'm now following Kevin Trudeau's Level 1 in "Weight Loss Cures 'They' don't want you to know about". I get to keep my cheese, and I get to keep my sweets. Maybe not as many sweets as I'd like, but I DO get to keep them. I'm finding I'm loosing weight with Kevin Trudeau. And with the sweets he does allow, I'm finding I'm craving sweets less. Every single person has to find what works for them. If Atkins works for you, then I'm honestly glad you found something that works for you. Stay with it. I'm proud of you. If Atkin's did not work for you, please try Kevin Trudeau. If you've already tried Kevin Trudeau, PLEASE keep trying something else and DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE! There IS SOMETHING out there that WILL work for you. The ONLY time you fail is when you stop trying. I hope this helps anyone who is trying to make a decision here on weight loss. God bless you.

This is a good purchase if on the diet April 19, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are on the Atkins diet or your own version of it you should pick up this book. It is very helpful and the recipes are pretty good. Since I am not much of a cook I did not try most of the recipes but the ones I tried were all decent (some better than others). I do think a book like this helps you stay on the diet longer.
Easy to accomplish, and proven to work! January 9, 2004 Anthony Sanchez (Fredericksburg, va United States) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Unlike fad diets and abstinence, this is a diet that does not require you to carry a scale, or a calculator to figure out if the food in front of you is what you should be eating. True, it helps if you love meat, but I have not met a fat vegetarian, so they should have nothing to worry about. The thought of being able to eat as much of the meat, and eggs that I want is heaven on earth. I no longer munch on pork rinds and feel guilty, but they are actually part of the diet. There is, however, a misconception that the diet eliminates carbohydrates. This is specifically not the case. The diet allows a severe lowering of carbs, but the allowed total increases somewhat after a short period of time. I have not stopped eating at McDonalds, and other such places, but now I know that instead of a couple of quarter pound burgers, I can get a double burger and stay at my daily carb limit. Once you are at the limit for the day, then you stop the carbs for only that day. Therefore, I can also eat rice, bread, and pasta, but in limited servings. This is not always easy, but I lost 18 pounds within eight weeks. I have not been as loyal to the diet since that loss, but I remain conscious about carbohydrates and this has kept me from regaining the weight after the last several months. The point is to know what will put on the weight and keep control. My wife and I add our own spices to the book's recipes so as to juice up the meals and to meet our taste needs. I do miss the big plate of spaghetti, but now I can better keep up with my children in play.
Usability January 6, 2004 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I just purchased the Atkins' New Diet Cookbook and have perused it briefly. However, without having started using the recipes, I have some suggestions to the author as to how to improve the usability. 1. All recipes should be for the same number of servings. It is easy to double or triple for more servings. 2. The page number should be included (rather than an asterisk indicating that the recipe is in the back of the book). I spent several hours locating the recipe and writing the page number by the meal plan. This before I even started considering cooking! 3. Little effort was made to make the recipes cost effective. By that I mean, in the first two weeks, many ingredients are perishable but used only one time and small amounts required--such as 4 strawberries! 5. Too much effort to make recipes exotic when more normal and available (also less expensive)ingredients would make the diet easier to manage and still maintain the low carbs.
