Recovery from Cancer by Elaine Nussbaum November 12, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Great book, great story! I followed what Elaine did for my cancer (stage 3 esophageal) and I am doing wonderfully today almost 2 years since my diagnosis. This book is very well written.
Don't give in to Sarcoma- Cancers! There is Hope !!! September 22, 2001 Ms. Yasmin Zimnowodzki (Birmingham 13, West Midlands Great Britain) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Hi ! My name is Yasmin and I am writing this review to anyone who is in anyway affected by sarcoma cancer. My message is - don't give up ! Let me explain ... My mother (76) was diagnosed with uterine sarcoma-carcinoma in December, 2000 and subsequently underwent a radical hysterectomy, six regimens of chemotherapy during which an abdominal secondary was found and radiotherapy was halted because of its adverse side-effects. For those that do not know - sarcoma is a rare, nasty and aggressive tumour and the medical outlook is very bleak. I ordered Elaine Nussbaum's book as she seems to have had a similar type of tumour to my mother. Elaine takes you through her initial diagnosis, her treatments, her suffering - the cancer had spread to her lungs and bones and she was confined to a wheelchair. The morning I received this book via Amazon, I read it in the bath - I was engrossed and interested and accompanied Elaine on every stage of her illness. Sarcoma seems to be a dirty word in the medical profession. However, I am writing this to let any Amazon readers know that Elaine became cancer-free and recounts how she took to the platform and spoke to an audience about how she had cured herself of cancer with aid of a macrobiotic diet. I would like to add - her body healed itself using the macrobiotic diet as a tool. This story shows that can one fight a sarcoma cancer and one does not need to give in and accept death. I do not know Elaine nor am I a macrobiotic pratitioner, but I do know, that this book shows that one does not have to give in to this disease and feel abandoned by the medical profession. Where there is Life there is Hope. My mother is currently in a hospice and has been told by the medical profession to resign herself to her fate - that of a certain death at the hands of this cancer which spreads like a fast-growing ivy plant. I am going to bring her home...I am going to give macrobiotics a try ...I do not know whether I will succeed ... every case is different ... my mother is old and her body is oh so weary...I will do what I can out of a deep love and because my soul asks me to... Order this book if you want Hope and if you want to fight your cancer wherever it is) because the Human Spirit (never mind how ill and weary it is) will do all it can to fight this disease - Cancer. Thank you, Elaine, for giving us Hope...

Yes, sarcomas are nasty and the medical profession has (as yet) very little to offer its 'victims' and that is why this book is worth reading. Whilst one shouldn't hope in vain, one shouldn't resign oneself to this disease either ! Anything is worth a try - Elaine believed in this diet and her positive thinking is a valuable and necessary tool in regaining health.

Well written and so very inspiring! If you have cancer or you love someone with cancer - this is a must read. After learning about all the things she went through, it's amazing she survived. But she did and she educates and inspires each of us not to just survive but to embrace life. Thank you for sharing yourself with us Elaine Nussbaum!
Excellent. Inspiring story. Couldn't put it down. December 14, 1998 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I read this book as a favor to Elaine's neice. It took me two hours and I couldn't put it down. I met Elaine. She is a spunky and vivacious woman whom I can't believe was on the doors of death just a few short years ago. Her tale of strength and personal power is a lesson to us all. Her desciption of alternative medicine is easy to understand and is a guideline for anyone conisdering an alternative medical lifestyle. It is more than the power of the mind. I have given this book to many people whom I know have been afflicted or have family members that have cancer. It is an inspirational story that even those that are healthy can learn from.
