A Must Read July 5, 2009 Laura (Irvine, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I believe every human being who cares about not ending up in a nursing home should read this book.
To those uninformed or apathetic critics, I say this: People who need their cigarettes will defend smoking. It doesn't make it healthy!
WAKE UP PEOPLE.

I wish I had this information years ago.
My oldest daughter started having bizarre tantrums and mood swing starting when she was 6 months old (when I started giving her solid foods). She would get extremely irritable and would also lose her appetite. My husband was having similar problems with his mood and also his energy levels. We tried for years to get help. We tried psychological counseling numerous times. We tried getting help from numerous medical doctors. We were told it was "ADD" "chronic fatigue" and "depression". Last year my daughters mood swings got so bad, I had to pull her out of school, church, and all extra activities. She simply couldn't function normally on a consistent basis.
Finally last year my husband did an experiment. He had long suspected that the problem had something to do with food. He ate grapenuts and milk for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He did this for over a week. He was completely fine, a little sick of grapenuts, but physically and mentally fine. With this evidence, he went to a food allergist. The food allergist tested him for over 600 food allergies. He didn't have a single one. The allergist told him to watch out for food additives because there is increasing evidence that food additives are causing all sorts of negative reactions.
I mentioned this problem to a friend of mine. It turned out she had the exact same problems, only she knew the solution. She had eliminated MSG from her diet and was fine. I knew MSG could be a problem for people, and so I avoided foods with "MSG" in the label. I had no idea how many labels and forms MSG comes in: "spice" "natural flavorings" "Hydrolyzed Protein" "Yeast extract" etc. I was really surprised. Almost every meal I made during the day had MSG in it! also felt angry that the FDA had allowed this deceptive labeling. Furthermore,we also discovered that many fresh meat products also have MSG in them because of the way they are more recently being processed. All of this was news to me.
As we eliminated MSG from the diet, there has been an immediate turn around for both my husband and daughter. My daughter is attending church, ballet classes, and other activities again, and will be reentering school this year. Her behavior is now normal. She has an appetite. In addition to my husband and daughter making a turn around, my 7 year old son who had suffered with severe migraine headache since he was a toddler, no longer has headaches at all. He started playing sports and enjoying physical activities he didn't seem to have the energy for before. These turnarounds were immediate. A teacher at church approached me and said, "Whatever you are doing. It's working. The difference is night and day."
Not everyone has the extreme reactions to MSG that my husband and daughter have, however, Dr. Blaylock proves that in the long run, these sorts of chemicals are not good for anyone.
Dr. Blaylock is right on the money. He is a reputable source and is highly respected in the medical world. Furthermore, he has been very courageous about speaking up on this issue. There aren't too many researchers with his integrity. I just wish I had heard of his book years ago. I know from personal experience that additives in the food can have serious consequences.
Thank you Dr. Blaylock. May God bless you and your continued work.

The best book ever written about the toxicity of food additives and their affect on humans. A must for anyone who wants to be and stay healthy.
