Excellent book! November 5, 2009 Jan Ove Etterlid (Førde, Norway) An excellent book which shows that alternative treatment for cancer has been 'well documented' in the past!
Great for alternative!!! November 1, 2009 Estela Chavez (LA, CA. USA) The therapy is backed up by reseach and pictures of before and after. Great recipies and simple and easy juicing. I used as a preventive measure. Felt great since started this food regimen. Vegetable with vitamins all organic.I recommend this to anyone who feels the need to prevent future diseases.
This is the book that saved my life September 23, 2009 Cdin Org (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, many things saved my life... But this book was most instrumental. When nothing else seemed to help, following the recipes and guide with care did the trick.
I still love Hippocrates soup - I even blogged my modern recipe version for all to use. Hippocrates used this soup for his patients. Something about the miracle of leeks, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and celery root all together.

Gerson goes into detail about how cancer patients react adversely to foods encased in plastic.
In those days, perhaps the plastic was worse then than it is today. But whether a person survived or didn't during treatment depended upon their food exposure to plastic.
He also eliminated salt and increased potassium intake. I love salt. But every time I have it, I wonder... should I not use this stuff?
I use the unheated rock salt from Utah. Just a little.
Whenever I'm sick, or even whenever my dog or cat is sick, I make Hippocrates Soup and Smoosh. (Instead of full juicing which is alot of work). And yes, they do get better. We get better.
This is, of course, my own personal experience.
So let me just say, this book is one of the best ever in the whole world. : )
There are more modern adaptations, but this is the original that I always turn to.
Max Gerson was a miracle worker, and even the great Dr. Albert Schweitzer loved him and what he accomplished.
Buy this book... it may change your life like it did mine.
Hopeful and logical, but does it work? August 21, 2009 K. C. Herbel (VA, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
First, I bought this book for my wife, the nurse, and a freiend who was suffering from cancer.
This book is full of technical information about the treatment and the cases the doctor handled with his therapy. While the theory seems sound, I do not have any first hand knowledge that it works. I sincerly wish I did!
In addition, I recently saw a documentary about this book and therapy, and about Dr. Gerson and his daughter's struggle to get the word out about this therapy, which works according to the documentary.
This doctor was (I think) a bit ahead of his time, signalling to all, many years ago, that we were causing our own cancer by the use or and exposure to toxic chemicals and products, we now find all around us. His therapy has a lot to do with eating and drinking only very healthy orgainc type foods, and cleansing the body of all manner of toxins, including the murcury in our teeth, which I'm convinced is very very bad for us.
The only reason I have for giving this 3 stars instead of more, is in part a measure of reluctance on my part to endorse something so important to someone's health who might already be struggling to win their fight with cancer.
Best wishes and better health,
KC
Revolutionary treatment for cancer July 8, 2009 J. Jessop (Notts, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book unlocks the revolutionary mechanism that cancer can be defeated by ordinary people. It contains very detailed and specific instructions for dealing with cancer in the last stages and how it can be beaten. I am so glad I bought this book both to change my own diet a bit and 'just in case' I ever need to avail myself of the content. The diet isn't easy but I guess if you are suffering from terminal cancer this is a treatment worth following. It certainly makes for interesting reading. It is a bit technical in places but that doesn't detract from the insight given.
