Product Description At age thirty-one David Servan-Schreiber was a rising neuroscientist with his own laboratory for brain imaging funded by the National Institutes of Health. While testing brain-scanning equipment, he discovered a tumor the size of a walnut in his own brain. This is the moving story of how a researcher and scientist who believed only in conventional treatments was transformed into an integrative physician who realized the importance and power of the body's natural defenses against chronic disease.
Dr. Servan-Schreiber's advice details how to find the right blend of traditional and alternative health care; how to develop a science-based anticancer diet (and the small changes that can make a big difference); the top ten household products to replace; understanding the effects of helplessness and "unhealed wounds" both physical and emotional, and how to regain balance; and how to reap the benefits of exercise, yoga, and meditation.
Anticancer takes us on an inspiring personal journey and ultimately guides us to a new way of life.
Unabridged on 7 CDs.

Anti cancer book March 21, 2010 D. Gwynn This book is a life changer. It is written so that a lay person can understand it. Having taught at a medical school I can also say that it is very well documented and up-to-date. I advise not only those suffering from cancer but also those who wish to prevent it to read it and share with friends. I purchased several copies to share it with others. READ IT!
A new way to fight cancer March 20, 2010 Juanita E. Carson Great common sense approach for learning to live a life that minimizes the chances that cancer cells will cause an actual cancer to grow. Well-researched and up-to-date. Some new insights to the diet section.
No More Feeling Helpless March 14, 2010 BH (WI) I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 1 1/2 years ago and went through surgery and chemotherapy with few problems. Then what? You wait and see if it comes back. The oncologist said there was nothing I could do to increase the chances of remaining cancer-free. Well, not so! This book does a wonderful job of laying out the evidence base for all the suggestions made. The language is clear and concise. Everything the author suggests is doable. I had a very healthy lifestyle before being diagnosed with cancer but there are still many items in the book I was unaware of and have incorporated into my life. It is all good. And best of all, I don't feel I have no choice but to wait and see if the cancer returns.
How to survive cancer, before and after March 11, 2010 Nancy Miller (Bloomington, IN) I first encountered David Servan-Schreiber through his book The Instinct to Heal, Curing Depression, Anxiety, and Stress without Drugs and without Talk Therapy. I was pleased to find a medical doctor willing to consider alternative medicine in the treatment of mental distress. Now his book Anticancer, A New Way of Life, convinces me that he truly has much to add to our understanding of our bodies and our minds at a time when traditional medicine is beginning to acknowledge that there is something we ourselves can do to bolster our immune systems besides taking more and more medicines. He does not replace traditional medicine, he fortifies it with sound research that anyone can apply to their lives. This book is for those with cancer, those who have survived, and those who don't want to suffer the ravages of this disease in their lives at all. A must read for anyone wanting to make healthy choices in their daily lives.
Thought Provoking March 11, 2010 BookBargainsandPreviews.com (New York) This was a great book for those interested in maintaining good health and helping your family do the same. If you are ready for a change looking for health tips, then this book is for you. It is a book that anyone can read to better equip themselves with the knowledge of how cancer starts and grows and what you can do to lower your risk of developing cancer. I highly recommend this book.
