Product Description
Indulge your fast food cravings without guilt—with recipes that deliver the same great taste without putting your health at risk or inches on your hips Americans all want to "eat healthy," but when they yearn for the fast foods they love, what they want most are the fabulous flavors that have made them favorites in the first place. That’s what makes this collection of recipe makeovers so exceptional. Los Angeles food writer, chef, and caterer Devin Alexander specializes in low-fat, high-flavor, scrumptious cuisine. In Fast Food Fix, she shows the reader how to transform 75 fast food favorites into healthier versions that are even more flavorful than the originals. Fast Food Fix: • demystifies the special seasonings and secret sauces of choice fast foods—showing how to reproduce their flavors quickly and easily from common ingredients • teaches how to lighten many dishes with new cooking techniques, such as the oven-frying method that yields incredibly crunchy popcorn chicken with 35 fewer fat grams than the original version from KFC • reveals simplified cooking methods that save time in the kitchen, proving that "fast food" can still be fast even when prepared at home For Americans hooked on fast food flavors, these recipe makeovers by a chef with an impressive repertoire of culinary tricks will quickly become a kitchen staple.

Awesome recipes that taste good! November 17, 2008 creative lady (Central Tx, USA) If the only recipe in the book was for the Pizza Pan Meat Lovers' Pizza, it would be worth the price! I love Meat Lovers Pizza and this tastes like the real thing with a LOT less fat and calories!! I can even have TWO good size pieces without feeling guilty about it! Yes, it takes some time to make, but I solved that by spending an afternoon making up several batches of the ingrediants (for the pizza and other items in the book), tossed them in the freezer and then the next several pizzas were quick and easy to throw together to pop in the oven. I've found many of the recipes were easy to make ahead of time and freeze for later, though items that are breaded were not as tasty after being squished in my food saver. Those that required two breadings were easy to adapt though by only breading once, freezing and adding the second breading on just before I baked the items. For deserts, I've found her "Most Decadent Diet Ever" to be my favorite...The chocolate cake is to die for!!
Awesome! September 7, 2008 Fitness Guy (Phoenix) My wife and I have were already fans of Devin Alexander's work - we had purchased the Biggest Loser cookbook about a year ago. In trying to eat better, I still have cravings for "cheat days." The recipes in Fast Food Fix totally fit the bill when I want something similar to Taco Bell or a serious burger - but they cut out a ton of fat and calories and taste JUST AS GOOD. Anyone out west who is an In 'N Out addict like me will seriously love her recipe for a Double-Double.
Love this book!! August 12, 2008 Sheila W. Saunders (Florida, USA) This book delivers everything that it promises. The recipes are easy and the food is sooooooooo good. My kids like everything that I have made out of it and my husband makes things from this book too. I recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy alternative to eating out all the time.
Excellent recipes to recreate all your fast food favourites June 29, 2008 Susan Quinlan I absolutely love this cookbook, I use it most weekends when I'm craving fast food after a long week at work. The recipes are fabulous and really do taste like the fast food you would eat in Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen etc. The only difference is that the recipes in this cookbook all are a lower in calories and fat than the original fast food ones. Plus they are all easy to make. I have all of Devin Alexander's cookbooks and I'd have to say that this would be my joint favourite cookbook along with Devin's The Most Decadent Diet ever. Highly recommended.
Awesome Cookbook! June 18, 2008 Janice Reynolds (Arlington, VA United States) It really is GREAT! The cookbook came yesterday and I've made the In and Out Burger: Double Double with onion on page 24 and the Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino Blended Coffee on page 208. BOTH are dead ringers for the real thing! I quit eating fast food two years ago, with the exception of the occaisional Subway, and to tell the truth I sometimes miss it. This is the perfect answer for me! Those hamburgers were EXCELLENT! Only problem...I ate two of them! I can't wait to try more!
