Product Description I had everything a woman could want
My husband, James. The house on the lake. My life. Our perfect life. And then Alex came to visit. The first time I saw my husband's best friend, I didn't like him. Didn't like how James changed when he was around, didn't like how his penetrating eyes followed me everywhere. But that didn't stop me from wanting him. And, surprisingly, James didn't seem to mind. It was meant to be fun. Something the three of us shared for those hot summer weeks Alex stayed with us. Nobody was supposed to fall in or out of love. I didn't need another man, not even one who oozed sex like honey and knew all the secrets I didn't know, the secrets my husband hadn't shared. After all, we had a perfect life. And I loved my husband. But I wasn't the only one.

Neither Erotic Nor Romantic January 8, 2009 Elena (Lynchburg, VA United States) I would have been happy with one of the above. As it is, "Tempted" left me stone cold. Sure, there were graphic sex scenes but they just weren't, well, sexy. Overall, the novel was disappointing. I don't know if it was due to Anne's first-person account which was unflinchingly blunt and straightforward to the point where I just didn't feel emotion from her and therefore, didn't care about her and those around her. Maybe it was because the love triangle just didn't interest me because the men were so juvenile much of the time. Maybe it was because an erotic novel shouldn't try to take itself so seriously. Actually, the two families held my interest more and that's not saying much. I am glad Anne finally developed a spine at the end of the novel, but I don't think the couple at the end of the book will stay together for the long haul. Then again, I don't really care, either.
Realistic but still a little disappointing January 5, 2009 Sandy (Singapore) I loved the characterization of the main players, especially Anne, although I felt that her rationalisations and emotions were like a yo-yo. My main bugbear is that because it is written from Anne's point of view, we never really get to know the boys very well. I am not sure why they were best friends now (altho Alex explains how it was in the beginning). I wish Hart explored their relationship a bit further, especially James, who seemed to be attracted to Alex but who also had a take it or leave it attitude. It was so subtle that I started to think that it was my own longing for them to be something more to each other and I was reading too much into the prose. It was all a bit lame really and the ending was realistic but I can't help wishing there was more closure.
Lackluster December 23, 2008 brooke M (Arizona) Soooo disappointing! I kept waiting for the climax of this book and it never came. It just went along at a steady predictable pace and then really fizzled out in the last quarter of the book. I gave her two star's only because I liked the books cover!
Warning! Have boxes of tissue nearby! **SPOILER ALERT** December 21, 2008 S. L. Eaton (Tulsa, OK) I chose to add my 2 cents because none of the other reviews I read warned about the not-so-happy ending. Don't get me wrong, I neither expect nor want a false positive from Megan Hart. Leave it to her to give us a most plausible story, even when it's heartbreaker. Had I known, though, I would have held off reading TEMPTED a couple more weeks so I could go right into her fourth novel. I'm assuming #4 will give us a resolution to not only Alex's broken heart, but show us what we have to take on faith about our lovely couple Anne and James. I'm heartened to see that Megan mentions Alex in her blog, so she's still writing about him; we just have to wait and see! Megan Hart's writing capabilities continue to astound me with every new book. She has a way of wrapping the story around your heart without you even knowing it until the moment she chooses to squeeze. I cry with each one of her books, but never so much as with TEMPTED. After staying up until 4am to finish the book, I bawled and bawled myself to sleep. I awoke with the same heavy feeling, and cried some more. I know I will be sad for days until I know what happened to Alex.
Real. December 18, 2008 Jen This novel is real, eloquent, and tasteful. It's not what you would expect at all, and that makes it completely beautiful. The characters are interesting, especially Alex. Alex may be the most desirable and captivating male character that I've read about in a while. The ending is more "real" than "happy," and that may disappoint some of you that go into this with sunshiney expectations. However, in my opinion, if you really pay attention and catch the gist of the story you'll realize that it's better that way. If you want a fairy tale, go watch The Little Mermaid. If you want a well-written, intelligent, interesting, deep, erotic, realistic novel, read Tempted.
