Jonny Bowden's The Healthiest Meals on Earth contains recipes for more than sixty dishes and drinks that use nutritious and healthy cooking methods. Forty of these dishes will combine to create ten different "poly-meals", specially crafted meals that contain key nutrients found to promote long-term health. They include Sweet and Thai Spicy Shrimp and Fruits, Persian Chicken with Autumnal Accompaniments, and the "iron booster" of Tender Calf's Liver and Sweet Beets. A "Healthiest Holiday Meal" features Citrus Stuffed Turkey, Zippy Fruit Salsa, and Sweet Potato Pie. The poly-meals are designed to be eaten three-to-five times a week.

Another ten recipes are not part of the poly-meal structure; instead they are one-pot meals that include Slow-Cooker Chicken Curry, Miso Bean Soup, and Venison Stew. A chapter on drinks will include nutritious smoothies, so-called "green drinks", and others. Jonny will provide healthy cooking tips throughout the book, as well as an analysis of the foods in each recipe. Side dishes, such as Cold Strawberry Soup and Veggie Slaw with Flax Oil, and desserts, such as Raw Chocolate Fondue, are also featured.

This book pairs well with Bowden's successful 150 Healthiest Foods, and can even be used as a companion cookbook.

An excellent book full of great menus, easy to follow recipes and a wealth of information that will clear up a host of misconceptions about which food is good for you and which food isn't. The pictures are mouthwatering and lead you from one delightful recipe to the next. The book is a veritable pantheon of of good food and education for health and good eats.

One of the most prolific and talented low-carb writers in the post-Atkins era has got to be Dr. Jonny Bowden. Enthusiastic doesn't even begin to describe this man who is devoted to helping people live better by making better choices about their diet, exercise routine, and life itself.

His latest project is a companion book to the bestselling 150 Healthiest Foods On Earth sharing some great-tasting recipes using many of the ingredients in that robust list of "healthiest foods." Dr. Jonny Bowden has done it again. He's not only an engaging writer, but gets down to the nitty gritty of WHAT to eat and WHY. The Healthiest Meals on Earth is a HUGE milestone on the journey to health "assurance" not health "insurance". It's comforting to know that Dr. Bowden is in the forefront of the health industry with his books. Keep them coming!!

I loved this book. Here's why: First of all, if you've read anything of Jonny Bowden's before, you know he has a great writing style, strong opinions, a huge amount of knowledge and he's funny. That alone should make anything he writes worth buying. But this book combines all that with some absolutely fantastic- and not difficult to make- recipes. It's kind of a combination cookbook- nutrition book, explaining why these ingredients were chosen in each recipe, why each meal was put together the way it was, and all the benefits you get from eating it. None of which would matter much if the recipes weren't so darn good. I mean, I'm no cook, and i can make them. It's not "doctrinaire"- just really good, original, clever uses of foods in really great combinations with a minimum of sugar and starch and a maximum of whole real foods. I haven't seen many cookbooks like this- hope they'll be more. Highly recommended!
