Wonderful Follow up to Twilight! November 18, 2008 C. HUNT (Atlanta, GA) If you were sucked into the first book, Twilight - you will be sucked into this 2nd book as well. Awesome, Awesome book, with lots of suprises! Read it fast because the movie will be coming out soon! Some trailers of the movie are already posted on youtube! AWESOME BOOKS!!!
New Moon (Book 2) November 18, 2008 Katarzyna D. Borys (Madison, WI USA) I really like Twilight Saga. Good to read in a bus - it's not wearing you out and it's easy to follow. Good simple writting.
Continuation of something Great November 18, 2008 Margaret A. Chind (Atlanta, GA USA) After finishing reading "Twlight", I was very excited to jump into read "New Moon." At the end of my book there was a preview of the first chapter and as the last sentences hit my eyes, I vocally screamed "No!" filled with the incomprehension that it could end that way and leave me hanging. I immediately ran upstairs and grabbed the second book to jump back in the journey. This continuation of the Saga is not quite as exhilerating as the first installment, but it is still a great read. The beginning is great, and then there is a big chunk of chapters that I just was not quite fond of. I believe it was the context and my mind unconsciously picking sides and not wavering even slightly in my opinions. But then, when I was about to give up hope, the plot took twists that I had not expected and the story that I felt had become predictable became heart-rending and complicated. It was truly an Ethel and the Pirate story. The story continues as at pace relevant to the first book and ends in a satisfactory manner that left me with a "thirst" for the next book. And now, I'm on my way upstairs to get it... BTW, I read this 563 page book in a manner of 4 or so hours. I would describe it (for the most part) and a deft page turner. *grin*
Desperate to turn the pages November 17, 2008 Margaret Granado New Moon was a difficult story to read, but one that I enjoyed. Most of the book is spent in anticipation and I found myself wishing I could read faster than I was haha. Stephenie Meyers herself asked that her readers go through the book twice (which I have done), because the middle of the book is lost on the reader as they anticipate what is next. I personally found it more exciting than Twilight, as there was a longer period of action and not as much description on her feelings of Edward (not that I disliked this in Twilight, but it was growing a bit tired). Overall, this was an excellent book and I would highly recommend it!
A Definite Improvement November 17, 2008 A Quiet Conscience (Canada) I liked the premise of Twilight, but the writing itself was pretty dismal. I'm pleased to say that Stephenie Meyer has greatly improved with her second novel in the Twilight series, New Moon. There are enough reviews here that go into detail on the story, so I'll just say that if you were put off by the writing in Twilight, give New Moon a chance. It's not great literature, but Stephenie has done a much better job here. I look forward to reading Eclipse.
