Getting back to and being guided by the founding fathers Constitution of the USA, gee what a great idea! Ron Paul for president.

First of all the first review giving this book one star, states that politicans can't excert power over people...Listen, buy a book called The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and than tell us rather or not politicans can excert power over people.

As for Paul. He is living in a free-market fantasy. If you really want to understand how free-market capitalism worked, read The Shock Doctrine and find out how wonderful Paul's suggestions really are. And if, by some wierd act, he ever became President, he would be a lameduck

A brilliant, brief, clear, concise overview of politics. If "public" (i.e. government) schools have any required reading lists, this should be on them.

5 out of 5 stars The old republican is the new libertarian.   November 8, 2008

This book puts an enlightening perspective between the monster organization the current republican party has evolved in to compared with its founding ideals. If the republican party followed its own agenda, as outlined in this book, everyone would be republican! Ask yourself, are you happy with this endless war, an insane foreign policy where we are policing the world, a monetary policy that has plunged our dollars value, and elimination of our civil rights, among many other areas? Most people are fed up with all of these and would place the blame clearly on the republican administration we have had for the last 8 years; however, most people would not realize that this is NOT what the republican party stands for at all.

Ron Paul does an excellent job of re-centering the integrity of the republican party with this book -- if only republicans would pay attention. You dont have to agree with every point in this book; most who read this would probably not agree with Ron Pauls views on abortion. However, he respectfully explains what led himself to this position, and everyone could agree with him that federal government should not interfere one way or another.

It was interesting, while reading this book I picked up a Freedom handbook at a hotdog stand in Berkeley. Inside the handbook was a review of The Revolution, and even though Ron Paul still considers himself a republican, this review places The Revolution clearly in the libertarians library. It made me realize, the old republican is the new libertarian.

I have always been a fan of personal liberty. Dr. Ron Paul has convinced me the only way to achieve that is through smaller government, just like our nation's framers intended. Excellent, quick, but on-target read.
