Do yourself a favor and read this book! June 29, 1998 Simontacchi reviews one by one all the diets people go on and why they fail, especially the ever so popular low fat, high fiber type. I love the section on squabbling sisters (insulin which stores weight and glucagon which burns it) -- it is must reading to understand why you can't drop that weight. She also explained that one pound of glycogen makes you store THREE POUNDS OF WATER, which is why dieting and exercise will not make it go away! If you don't understand the role glucagon and glycogen play in your weight control, please buy this book -- you will be doing yourself such a favor to understand the process. Have I pushed this book enough? I refer to it constantly, and yes, the weight is coming off!
This book is well-written and easy to understand. June 28, 1998 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have followed the philosophy of the diet with certain important adjustments. I am strictly vegetarian and the author claims one cannot follow her diet and be vegetatian. This is not so. I have lost 14 pounds. You can apply the nutritional principals. It would be nice if the author supported that as vegetarianism is healthier and compassionate. Is there anyone out there who has also done this?
Bless you, Carol! April 4, 1998 Parsifal1@aol.com (California) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I went on this program, lost 18 pounds, and have kept them off ever since. The program is simple, makes sense, is nutritious and safe, and I feel great. The nutritional supplements are readily available, and somehow doing Carol's program makes me feel like I'm finely on a sane eating diet. Even my doctor is amazed at how healthy this is, and how much it's helped me. I've done many of the recipes, and have liked them so far. And I have to say that I've bought copies for a friend and a family member, and they both are losing weight, too. All in all, I'm glad I finally found a book that explains -- in easy to understand language -- a nutritious and simple program that WORKS!
Sounds Promising... February 17, 1998 habes@micron.net (Boise, Idaho) A wonderfully written diet book--in a world full of Outrageous and Dangerous diet books... I have yet to try the program...seems easier than the Zone...and I am still somewhat skeptical. Would very much like to correspond with others trying the program. Am looking very forward to the promised cookbook.
A very open and honest book by an unbiased person January 22, 1998 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The author seems to only care about the issue of weight control and the permanent handling of this problem. It is a totally different book that is from a nuturing perspective and very honest. It deals with issues that no other book that I have read does, such as; brown fat, allergies, depression and many others. This author has stories of people who she worked with and their stories and challenges. It was well written. The recipes I have tried are very easy and good tasting. The author even gives her address to write. So I did and I am waiting for an answer.
