Good advice and good recipes combined May 21, 2008 armchairinterviews.com (Minnesota) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had never heard of Dr. Gott's no flour, no sugar diet when I first found this cookbook. I must admit that I was instantly skeptical when I saw the title....no flour and no sugar? Would it be possible to make edible food without these two supposedly essential ingredients? As I began to flip through the recipes, my skepticism started to wane. Breakfast Apple Pie? Sounds appealing. Faux Spaghetti? Intriguing. Mandarin Mousse? Fabulous! I instantly headed toward the kitchen to try some of the recipes. My first endeavor was the eggs in nests. What a great snack and super easy to make! Further tries on the recipes were just as easy and just as tasty. I was won over in just a few recipes. This book gives you recipes that are easy to make, full of flavor, and plentiful enough that you can eat from this plan quite regularly, if not full time. My one complaint is that there are a ton of seafood-based recipes in the book. If you are not a fan of seafood, you will have some challenges with variety in this diet. One of the best features of the book is that it goes beyond just the recipes. Dr. Gott's diet is encapsulated in a few introductory chapters and gives a good overview of why a sugar and flour free diet is beneficial. It also gives tips and tricks for surviving the world outside your kitchen, avoid the yo-yo diet pitfalls, and how border line foods such as alcohol and chocolate should be dealt with. It helps take all the great recipes and fit them into a healthy and well-rounded diet. Chock full of easy-to-make recipes that taste great, this book will be great for anyone looking to enjoy a healthy diet and limit their flour and sugar intake.
Great Book and even gives you back up info May 6, 2008 Jessica M. Adams (The Dalles, OR) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wasn't sure if I needed both books about the no sugar no flour diet. This book gives you recipes as well as info on the actual diet. You can skip the first book and just get this one and be just as informed.
Buy it! April 21, 2008 Guus Schippers 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Dr. Gott writes interesting articles in our local newspaper, based on people's questions. This book adds to healthy living.
Very Easy Diet April 20, 2008 Green Heron (Colorado Springs, CO USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have been on them all. This diet is very easy and the book is easy to read with recipes. I also purchased the recipe book and it is full of wonderful recipes. This is not an overnight weight loss. It comes off slower than others, but I am very happy with it and not at all hungry.
Love Dr. Gott's diet and this cookbook April 6, 2008 D. Lyon (Mercerville, NJ United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful, easy diet to follow and this cookbook is a big help. I enjoyed making a couple of the recipes already.
