Hard Work but Worth it! April 28, 2008 Janet Owen (Victoria, Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Phew! You want a hard workout in a short amount of time, then this dvd is for you. I am quite fit but it is still challenging and exhausts you, yet you feel amazing once you've completed a level. It has 3 levels with 1 being the 'easiest' but still works up a sweat. The workouts are well planned out and you utilize more muscles in the one exercise which is tiring. No resting so you complete it within 22 mins, including cool down. It is great for shifting those last stubborn pounds and you learn how much your body can take and how hard you have to push through that plateau to reach your desired weight. Highly recommended, as with all the Jillian Michael products...results gauranteed....if you follow it strictly! Good Luck, you can do it.
No rest with Jillian's workout! April 28, 2008 Denise M. Defalco Mcgeein 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is actually a very difficult workout. I was initially disappointed that each sesssion was 20 minutes in length, but l0 minutes into the level 1 session, I am working hard. I have begun to do level 1 and level 2 to create a 40 minute session. I have yet to attempt level 3. Jillian does inspire.
great workout April 28, 2008 SlimJim (Idaho) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have only done the 1st set of 20 minutes of exercise and it gives a great all around workout - I'm very impressed with it - the only slight drawback is that you have to listen to the introduction every time - you aren't able to fast forward through it - that gets a little old.
Feel the Burn April 28, 2008 L. Manley (Vermont) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Okay, I am not in bad shape- really. I have been going to the gym regularly this year, and lift weights too. I do about 1/2 hour to 40 min on the eliptical and I don't mess around. I decided to try this workout because I was getting tired of the gym and thought I might mix it up. I am 38 years old and within my BMI target. I tried the Level One workout. It was really simple to complete, but it wasn't easy. I'd forgotten how basic jumping jacks could be challenging! I didn't use weights the first time because I wanted to try it out. The workout lasts 20 minutes, give or take, and the workout consists of abs, cardio and strenght. The next morning, I was a MESS. I was sore, but in a good way. My inner thighs ached like never before. As Jillian says, a great body "doesn't come for for free!" You have to work hard. I did, and I was so sore I couldn't do days 2-4 of the "30 Day Shred." However, I am now getting back on the shred wagon and it is gradually getting easier. I think it is a great workout in a compact package. You can do it anywhere, anytime, and only need handweights (or not!) to get a great workout.
Excellent value and efficient workout April 27, 2008 L. Miller 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Even if there were only level 1 on this DVD, it would be a great value. Level 1 is a great 25 minute video. (the "20 minute" refers to the length of time on the circuits, not including warm up and cool down/stretching). But the fact that there are two other intense and challenging workouts on this dvd makes it a fantastic value! I am a regular exerciser and in fairly good shape. After having done the level 1 workout a couple of times I am at the upper end of level 1 (except for the pushups) and plan to alternate levels 1 and 2 for variety and to transition up a level. This workout is great for people who find most traditional workout videos "okay, but not terribly challenging." it will help keep you from plateauing. I was thinking as I showered afterwards that the last time a shower felt this refreshing after a workout was when I used to do 1.5 hours of cardio at the gym -- but this was only 25 minutes! If you have knee problems, be forewarned: she does not modify some of the exercises (like jumping jacks.) Even though she says "I've seen 400 pound people do jumping jacks and you can too" if you actually have serious knee problems, you'll need to modify the moves yourself. Good luck!
