A Michner Classic for the Ages September 30, 2008 Richard L. Tannehill (Glendale AZ) Arguably the finest lengthy TV series ever made, with an all-star cast, and a great story......historical fictional docu-drama. Sure wish it had been made in Hi-Def on a 16:9 format though. RT
if you are a history buff September 29, 2008 Gerald Soffin (florida) I think it is one of the best movies of the early frontier to the present!
Centennial - mini series September 28, 2008 late night viewing (Gt Falls, MT) Just as I remembered it! Being stationed overseas when it was released, it was a weekly requirement to watch the entire series. The product was of good quality, sound & color. As was the industry standard back in the day of the mini-series, the actors names appear at the begining of each episode and the credits fail to identify who played what roles. The bonus feature identifies who the major players were however, the supporting cast goes unmentioned. They are somewhere in the list of credits preceeding each episode without their charactor's name next to their own. For example - who plays the young boy in the Wendell family? Who are the Pasquinel brothers, as boys & as adults, etc...? (The young white haired Wendell boy also went on to play Jane Fonda's son in "On Golden Pond"). Who played the cowboys on the cattledrive? I've seen them in other things but can't pick their names out of the evening line-up. These are production snafus with the originating crew, NOT an Amazon error. As for Amazon, I'm happy to say I once again am pleased with their product.
Good TV September 23, 2008 N. Stuart (Canton, IL) The series came quickly and it's takes up less room than the old VHS tapes!
Great DVD SET September 23, 2008 Julianne L. Duffield (Liberty Hill, TX) I had been waiting for this to become available. I was so happy when Amazon sent me the email notice. My family loves the collection and I am now teaching history, so it is wonderful to use bits of it in class, since it follows the same town throughout history!-
