Fun and Exciting! September 23, 2008 Walt If you want something different than the typical yoga dvd, get this one. You don't need to be an experienced yoga practitioner yet, in 25 minutes, you will still get as good a workout as if you were. The dance moves (also about 25 minutes) are low impact, funky, and awesome and feel really great and organic in the body. Ana & Ravi tell you what to do and you can watch Ana who is the coolest thing to watch--the moves are easy to follow. Ravi & Ana give great instruction that can be applied to other workouts as well.
don't buy if you can dance September 23, 2008 Ryky (Australia) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this one with the ultimate stretch based on all the rave reviews and was disappointed by both. The half hour of yoga is ok (if you don't mind the odd pelvic juttering that goes with the breath of fire done by someone in underwear)...seriously, if you can actually dance, don't waste your money. I had thought being yoga there would be some meaning or spirituality to go with specific dance movements, that had a purpose. Rather they break it down into 'chakras', and make up a dance-aerobics style combinations. The sound track seems to have been made by them recording relevant audio clips and a dj splicing them together (very repetitively) with random new age motivational phrases to spur you onward. This may suit some, and obviously does by the sales, but not for me. With the white background and bright dotty mats and various sets of underwear being danced in it felt more like I was in a teenage girls bedroom than the class of a guru. Especially when ana is clearly trying hard not to laugh most of the time. [...] I prefer something with meaning, background, or something that will actually build muscle memory and skill. This seemed like a waste of time. If you want to break into something different with dance I would suggest African Healing Dance. The teacher is experienced, she gives the meanings of all the traditional moves and you can still jump around to get a workout.
Intense Energy Boost September 21, 2008 B. Lyles 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The DVDs by Ana & Ravi are full of energy and intensity. This workout provides more aerobic activity than most yoga videos, but it is not just an aerobic workout. Many stretches are included both before and after the dancing as well as meditation (not hokey). My only complaint is the amount of free choreography in the dancing routines. I know it is meant for you to loosen your mind and body in the freedom, but if I purchase a video, I want to be led. I can turn the iPOD on myself. Don't get me wrong though. Many dance moves are taught beforehand and you can repeat these as you feel comfortable during the "free" time.
Shiva Rea watch out! September 19, 2008 NamasteYoga (Los Angeles) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Wow, I love the inspired dance in this dvd. I also appreciate that the new "matrix" menu has been added... MUCH better. This dance yoga puts a whole new light on yoga! In fact, it has inspired me to teach more dance/flow with my class, PLUS adding cool music makes it even better! Hmmm.. maybe the next dvd will have more dance inspired music! Either way, this is a great dvd to let loose and enjoy your practice. In fact, anyone could practice to this dvd. A must see! TAMARA'S YOGA FUSION
