My Favorite Workout Tape October 26, 2007 Diane Pellegrini (Ellensburg, WA USA) I have been using this workout tape for many years and I just love it! I know it so well that I can increase the cardio as much as I can do. It has such a simple premise and after all these years I still am surprised at how quickly the time goes! You can do it in a small space in front of your television. I just love it! I wish that they would put it on DVD though!
Excellent Clasic!! In the Family for years. October 18, 2007 CC Morales This is my favorite Jane fonda workout. I would do this workout with my mother when I was only 10 and really enjoyed it. The work out includes 45 minutes of step aerobics that are conducted by the most vibrant instructors. They really motivate you and provide what it takes not to bore you with the routines. They give you the options of what excersise level you wish to work with, and provide clear instructions. The workout is followed by an abdominal routine in which Jane fonda goes through several types of abdominal crunches and leg lifts. The video ends with a nice stretch and the sensation of a good workout. Personally it is one of those workout that I always go back to. Even now at 25.
So easy, you don't have to think about it -- try it with hand weights March 28, 2007 Joeil Virago (San Francisco, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was the first excercise tape I ever tried, and has remained my favorite after trying about five others. Trying new workouts can be such a drag, as it's exhausting as you try to learn the steps. It only took me [a total beginner] about five times to become quite comfortable with this workout. In fact, it's so easy, I don't need to pay much attention at all to follow it, and can allow my mind to wander to other things I need to mull over about my day. Before I know it it's over. The other wonderful thing I've found, is the arm motions are sweeping and simple enough, that you can further increase your workout -- and train strength at the same time -- by holding light barbells while you do your step workout. When I've been out of shape, I've started with 1 or 2 lb. weights, and work up to 3 lb. weights, and sometimes trade out heavier or lighter weights in easier and more difficult parts of the workout. The heaviest I've ever gotten up to was 5 lbs. and 8 lbs., and after you've worked that much weight for that long [30+minutes], you know you've done something [a bit hard on the cartiladge in your shoulders though when you get to weights that heavy; no worries on the light weights].
Oldie but Goodie! February 22, 2007 Judy C. Sims 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great tape even though it was produced back in the late 80's or so. I purchased the item way back then, but my husband accidentally destroyed it, and I never thought I'd find another copy. I am so glad I check this Web site. You are a great resource for hard-to-find items. Thanks again!
Very basic, but very enjoyable... September 12, 2006 Teedums (White Bear Lake, MN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really liked this workout, I have been a regular exerciser for nearly 3 1/2 years and would consider myself intermediate where stepping is concerned. I have found that I prefer low impact step workouts with simpler choreography. Plus, I do most of my cardio following strength training, so I need something easy to follow and something that will give me a good workout without being overly taxing. This one fits the bill for me. As others have mentioned, Jane does not lead the step routine, just the ab portion. Jane's instructors Laurel, Jeanne and Mark take turns leading the step segments, each one has their own song. The steps are basic, and the routine is slow in the beginning but does pick up the pace. The most complicated steps you will likely see are straddles and over the tops, you will also see a lot of basic steps, knee lifts, hamstring curls, kicks, rear leg extensions and repeaters. There are also lots of intensity options, one side of the room will add impact moves and bigger arm movements, while the other side of the room keeps it lower. There is one gal who even does the entire routine on the floor. Or you can raise or lower your step height to make it easier or harder. All three of the instructors do a good job and they along with the class seem to be having a good time. And I even like the music, sure it might not be the best music or most hip music used in a workout video but I thought that it suited the workout well. After all this video was made in the early 90's. After working out with the Firm and other instructors, I seem to be discovering Jane's workouts lately. They might be geared more towards beginners and intermediates, but I am finding that I am enjoying them, I wish I would have found them years ago, maybe I would have started exercising sooner. Some of her workouts have been released on DVD recently, maybe this can be released as part of a step collection with her other step workout and Lower Body Solution? Just a thought. I would recommend this workout to anyone looking for a decent low impact step routine with simple moves, or for days that you just want an easier workout. 4 and a half stars for this one.
