5 out of 5 stars Excellent Pre-Wedding Workout!   April 2, 2007

I started using this DVD right before I got engaged. I am not an athletic person, nor do I particularly enjoy exercise. I LOVE this workout! I lost between 10 and 15 pounds, and really toned my body. I didn't have a lot of weight to lose, but this certainly firmed up all my jiggly parts! I became a lot more flexible as well. After 5 years or so, the DVD no longer plays. I decided to buy one of the Winsor Pilates DVD, and hate it. I will definitaely re-purchase this one.

Did not find this DVD to be very challenging. Just started back exercising and was expecting to have some difficulty getting back into things but this video like a slow warm-up with no actual workout. The production background though is really calming. Might be good workout for a lazy day but I would agree that there would be no weight loss with this DVD.

3 out of 5 stars Great for beginners for as a refresher   January 23, 2007

I got this DVD because I used to be really into Pilates when I was a dancer up through high school and part of college, and I needed a refresher course since I haven't done it in at least four years.

What sold me on this DVD was the level choices. I used to be an advanced level, but I haven't done Piltaes in at least four years, so I wanted to slowly build myself up again, and this video allowed me to do that. During each exercise, you can follow along with one of the three women on the video: Level 1, level 2 or level 3. I think at first, the movements are hard to follow and ease into, but once you do it a few times, you can pick up on the transitions through the instructor's directions.

I LOVE the calming ocean background. I do this video after work, and the scenery definitely comes in handy during the Hammock movement at the end because it really allows you to relax, and escape. It puts me in control of my thoughts, and I love that feeling.

However, I have to say that after rebuilding my Pilates endurance, this video becomes slow and not as challenging. Now I'll do this video if I'm not feeling like an intense Pilates session. Or, I'll add two-pound weights to my wrists or ankles, depening on the movements, which does make everything that much more challenging.

Bottom line: This really is a great DVD for those who are beginners, or those who need to get back into the swing of Pilates. However, once you've mastered this video, it may be time to move on to something more challenging.

1 out of 5 stars Slow, repetitive, and no weight loss will occur   January 9, 2007

A complete disappointment, this DVD is irritatingly repetitive as it states the 3 different positions to take based on your level of fitness for EVERY single move. This takes alot of time. Additionally, one only gets a few repetitions of every move, not enough to work the muscle.

I will not do it again and do not recommend it if you are looking for a decent level of strength and toning (and I'm not that fit).

5 out of 5 stars A Workout To Make You Feel Great   December 21, 2006
Lucie Peek (SBI)
This is a long workout, but it is well worth the time. Although it may not be practical for everyday use, it is an exceptional program because it consists of three levels to learn the techniques by: easy, medium and advanced, and is not overly aggressive or forceful. You don't feel like you're not doing it right, as is sometimes the case with other Pilates workouts. Every detail of the workout is narrated, right down to the breathing and the tension to be used in the ab muscles.
Although I think this workout somehow shorts the abdominal area (the only two exercise that really address that part of the body are the Hundred and the Rollup), it is excellent for the legs and the spine. I have found the I have more energy throughout the day if I attempt to do at least part of this workout, and I don't get many headaches if I keep up with my Pilates workouts. Plus, nothing is more enjoyable than working out to peaceful music and scenes of Hawaii. After all, don't we all wish we could wake up in Hawaii and do pilates by the beach? :)
