3 out of 5 stars Atlantis & Billy Meier Space Queen aside, worth reading   January 24, 2008
Phil S. (USA)

Alright, before I say some complimentary things about this very readable and relaxing tome, I want to get a few things straight: Shirley did not live in Atlantis [I never saw her....], Billy Meier's virtual Science Fiction was de-mythed on some Cable show I saw a while back; what else? oh yeah, how can reincarnation of something intangible be possible?. I can deal with ancestoral memory showing up through DNA. Unless I need to reread SM on this, if she's saying the Soul is not biological then how could her *brain* assimilate past lives?
Another issue: how come these abductees never ask the aliens how to cure cancer? Further, when Shirley prefaces with put on your thinking caps she's really saying take *off* your thinking caps, at times.
Okay. Now to the main issue. I'm somewhat familiar with her first book so this recent work emerges as a nice later-in-life affirmation of the original precepts with an important, positive message for those who are "age-ing". With the cosmos...the sky's not the limit. There's a cosmos inside which we either know next to nothing about or do nothing about, and you can be 97 and never stop searching and seeking.
As I said above, I don't enjoy the keep-an-open-mind-to-my-wild-imagination prefacing; also readers who are very astute as to New Age affairs should know that there's alot of tired stuff, albeit still fascinating, i.e. The Majic 12, etc. If 40% of the readers of this book haven't actually read Stanton Friedman's book, I'd be surprised. She restates his writing, but where's the beef? (incongruous cliche?). Has she found new information to confirm his information? Also, there are awkward, uncomfortable references to "gods".
There are spots where, if you are reading this book on the subway, you might say, that's it..I love Shirley but that's too much..that poker-faced, senses-dulled Soul sitting across from you, eyeballing you as you read page after page about Billy Meier and the space queen [right! she revealed as a fashion-mag. model!) that makes you self-conscious enough to wait till bedtime and that tea you bought at the New Age store.
Ultimately, though, these oft-told tales aren't important when we consider that Maclain has written an inspirational book which has resonance for any seeker. If the material herein is too far-out (sorry) there are still some entertaining show-business tidbits included from *early* seeking era.
[I'm still bothered by the fact that Shirley did not think something was "up" [?] when Billy Meier - this dude don't quit - wouldn't allow herentourage out into the field with him for his regularly scheduled meeting with the space beings. Why wouldn't they want to meet a....star?].

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing   January 15, 2008

I was very disappointed in this book. I have always admired Shirley MacLaine as a hugely talented and very wise woman. I found the title of this book misleading, as it is much more a forum for MacLaine's beliefs in the Extraterrestial, than any advice or words of wisdom from a star of such magnitude and longevity.

Shirley Maclaine's newest book, " Sageing While Aging" is delightful and speaks to those of us who are trying to grow old with grace. She is fun and provokes thought.

5 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOK   January 11, 2008

Shirley Maclaine is a breath of fresh air. I have read all her books but this one I enjoyed the most. She talks about everyting from UFOs, to reincarnation, to health care. And while she has been accused of being "new age", she has become the voice of reason for our time. In a time when we seem to be going backward because of religous fundamentalists, no matter what religion, Ms Maclaine pours out logic that we ignore at our peril. The book is an easy read. I read it in one sitting and I hope there are more books coming.

5 out of 5 stars A TON OF INFO   January 8, 2008

This is one of the most exciting of Shirley's books that I've read. She is putting out a load of info about a lot of things as if she may not be around to write another book. She says that she's not doing this for any reasons of fame etc., but for her grand children as she wants them to be informed about what's going on in this world, and a lot if going on.
